Yankee Candle Red Velvet Tart
Advantages: Delicious, long lasting scent which never becomes too sickly.
Disadvantages: None for me.
I recently placed an order for ten Yankee Candle wax tarts just to see what all the fuss was about and am currently working my way through them. I ordered mine from Ebay were the number of different scents was quite overwhelming and so I had ten picked for me randomly so I could sample a wide range of different scents. One of the tarts I received was this Red Velvet scented one which, after giving it a quick sniff through the plastic packaging, I was very excited about burning!
Red velvet comes in a number of different forms and the scent is available in a medium jar candle, medium tumbler candle, large tumbler candle, regular tumbler, small jar candle, large jar candle, tea lights and this wax tart which I shall be reviewing.
Yankee wax tarts are circular, 'flower' shaped chunks of wax which have no wick. To burn these you simply pop them in a tart or oil burner and light a tea light underneath, as the flame from the tea light melts the tart above a fragrance will be released. Wax tarts have a burn time of approx eight hours so you can burn them over more than one tea light.
The Red Velvet tart comes tightly packed in a plastic covering which contains a sticker on top. The sticker shows the Yankee Candle logo along with the scent name and a picture of a mouth watering cupcake with chocolate sponge and an ample amount of vanilla frosting. The tart is a lovely deep red colour.
Even through the packaging the sweetness of this tart is strong. Its rich sugary scent with a hint of vanilla does smell rather like cupcakes and is just lovely. When melting, however, it gets so much better.
It takes about ten minutes for the scent to start drifting through the room and when it does you're in for a real treat! The sweetness of the brown sugar is always the main scent to this one but the rich vanilla is always detectable too. After a while a slightly spicy cinnamon scent is let out and these three scents combined make a beautiful cake like fragrance which is perfect for those who have a sweet tooth like me!
The scent, I think, has the perfect strength to it too. Although I'm a big fan of these types of scents I do find them to sometimes be too strong and overpowering and even sometimes headache inducing. Yankee got this one just right though. The fragrance is always detectable and really hits you when you enter the room it is burned in and can even be detected from other rooms in my house too. But I can still sit in a room with this burning without thinking it's too strong. The sweetness never becomes sickly sweet and actually just makes me feel hungry! When the tea light has gone out this lovely fragrance lingers in the air of the room for a good five or six hours too.
This is a really nice winter scent in my opinion and is one of those which makes a house feel more like a home. I really love this and, although this is only the second fragrance I have tried in the Yankee Candle range I can tell it's going to take something pretty special to beat this one!
Summary: A gorgeous scent which I shall definitely be repurchasing in the future.
