Advantages: Long lasting tart, smells great when melted
Disadvantages: None really
My latest addiction continues with the Soft Blanket Yankee Tart. I admit that I'm so behind the curve with the Yankee phenomenon that I make our country's rail network look punctual, but after reading and rating countless Yankee reviews on here, I can say that the Yankee bug has bitten my burner and doesn't look like letting go.
The thing that impresses me most with the Soft Blanket tart is the way that closing my eyes and smelling the scent actually makes me think of soft blankets - the lightest fluffiest new blanket taken from an airing cupboard at a posh auntie's house who uses nicer fabric conditioner than your mum used when we were younger. I've noticed with quite a few Yankee tarts that there is a big dose of sugar in the overall scent - I'm not sure if it's real sugar that they use as burnt sugar isn't a pleasant smell, but there is something very sweet in there that reminds me of a cross between dolly mixtures and that Shh perfume by Jade Goody. For this particular tart, there is a hint of fabric conditioner mixed in which I could best describe as lavender meets a new born baby's clothes.
The picture on the tart's label is of a knitted teddy bear underneath a blanket. The tart itself is of the classic Yankee petal / scallop shape and is the colour of Kendal Mint Cake - a creamy off white. Another common theme with this and other Yankee tarts is that the manufacturer's claim for a 22g tart lasting 8 hours isn't accurate - ours still gave a noticeable scent when melted for about double that time.
The soft blanket tart currently costs 94p plus 99p postage and packaging from the Yankee Store on Amazon. For those that prefer an actual candle, these start at £6.29 (again plus 99p postage and packaging) also through the Amazon Yankee store.
This is the sort of scent that freshens the house and gives an illusion of relaxing comfort - the sort you would get from snuggling under a freshly washed soft blanket or drying fluffy towels on radiators when the smell of the fabric conditioner fills the room. We love this scent of tart, and I can only give it the full five stars as any less wouldn't be fair. Thanks for reading.
Summary: Another wonderful scent from Yankee
