Advantages: Lovely delicate fragrance
Disadvantages: None for me
As you may see from a lot of older reviews I am a big fan of Yankee products and have tried quite a few of them. One of my favourite Yankee products is the wax tarts, these are cheap to buy, allow you to try new fragrances without spending a fortune and also make great air fresheners for your home. One of my newer fragrances I have recently brought is Strawberry Buttercream, I spotted this one on the Yankee website and thought the fragrance sounded lovely, I just had to try it.
My Strawberry Buttercream comes, as do all Yankee Wax Tarts, wrapped tightly in a clear plastic wrapper allowing you to see the colour of the wax tart inside. The wax tart has a small square label stuck to the top of it, this has the words "Yankee Candle" written at the top of the label in black and the fragrance of the tart, "Strawberry Buttercream" written at the bottom within a white box in black writing. Fitting in with the rest of the Yankee products, the rest of the label is take up with a picture which is designed to fit in with the fragrance of the Tart, in this case a picture of buttercreamwith strawberries set in it with a pale pink background. There is also a small plain label on the bottom of the wax tart which doesn't contain a huge amount of information, mainly how not to and how to use the wax tart, most of this is demonstrated with symbols rather than writing.
The appearance of the Wax Tart is exactly the same as all of the others in the range, a Yankee Wax Tart is basically a small round wax cake with fluted edges. The colour of the wax more often than not is designed again to reflect the fragrance of the tart, in this case it is made from a white coloured wax. Yankee Candle Wax Tarts look similar to a small round flat candle but without the wick to burn them with.
When I first purchased my Strawvberry Buttercream wax tart I imagined it had a light delicate fragrance to it and also one which was quite sweet so when my Yankee order arrived I was keen to try this one out as I felt that this was going to be a fragrance I particularly enjoyed. I used my strawberry Buttercream wax tart in the same way that I use all my others, I removed the packaging and placed the whole thing in the bowl part of my oil burner and then lit a tea light underneath it. After just a few minutes the wax tart began to melt and the fragrance gradually spread around the room. I was correct in that the fragrance was quite delicate, not the strong fragrance that some of the Yankee Wax Tarts have, however it was not too weak, the fragrance of this particular wax tart was quite sweet and it had a strong smell of strawberries as you would expect, the strawberry fragrance was not 100% true to fresh strawberries but neither is it an artificial smell, I would say that for this type of product the fragrance is pretty accurate. The fragrance of the Strawberry Buttercream Wax Tart made a lovely room freshener, living in a open plan house I find that the stronger fragrances often spread throughout the house, with this one it did tend to just linger in the downstairs of my house, however for the room that it was burning in the strength of the fragrance was ideal, even after I blew the tea light out and let the wax re-set I could still smell the sweet strawberry fragrance for some time afterwards, this particular wax tart left my rooms smelling lovely and fresh.
Yankee Candle Wax Tarts are widely available whether its from various gift shops or online, I purchased this particular one online as I have not seen it available in any local shops, I paid just 90p. I thought this was excellent value for money as I do with all of the Yankee Wax Tarts as they are usually priced around £1.00, sometimes a little more or less depending on where you buy from. I find that Yankee Wax Tarts are well worth the money, you get on average around 8 hours burn time from each tart before the fragrance starts to disappear, I haven't used my strawberry Buttercream for 8 hours yet, however I have used it several times and so far the fragrance is not fading so I am well on track to get 8 hours of burn time out of it.
I would certainly recommend the Strawberry Buttercream Yankee Candle Wax Tart, this has a lovely sweet fruity fragrance to it which really freshens up the room, the fragrance is delicate and not over powering but it makes a lovely summery room freshener as it is not too heavy at all. The fragrance generally is long lasting and does not have an artificial smell to it at all. In my opinion this is well worth the money, you get a lot of burn time from a Yankee Wax Tart and this one is no different and at under £1.00 for the tart it is a bargain. This is a lovely addition to anyone's Yankee Candle collection and I would certainly like to try some of the candles in this particular fragrance. This is one I would recommend and one I will be buying again in the future.
Summary: A nice wax tart from Yankee
