Yankee Candle - an American company offering scented goodies for the home.

@Sugared Vanilla@

Sugared Vanilla is part of the Simply Home range from Yankee. This range is more popular (and available in the USA). This scent is apparently very similar to Sugar Cane and Vanilla which is a regular UK scent.

Within the UK, Sugared Vanilla is mainly available in wax tart form. If you bought this in the USA, there is various candle jars available. A wax tart is a small piece of scented wax. It should be placed in a tart burner with a tea light underneath. Yankee claim that each tart should offer 8 hours of scent which is released as the wax melts.

Sugared Vanilla is a white wax tart. It is shrink wrapped with an image label showing what looks like cakes topped with sugar cubes. The official Yankee description of Sugared Vanilla is..

"A heavenly dessert of sugar sweetness and creamy, delicious vanilla"

A set of 3 Sugared Vanilla Wax Tarts can be bought on Amazon or eBay UK for £4.99. You can also purchase a single tart on eBay for £1.50.

@My Thoughts@

During December, I visited my local Birthdays superstore and picked up several Simply Home wax tarts. One I selected was Sugared Vanilla and I paid £1.35 which is a decent price considering it is a bit harder to find within the UK. I have previously stated my love for Yankee and in particular the wax tarts. I have a tart burner which is used daily and I go through so many tea lights that I should really bulk buy! I love the ambience and aroma that Yankee tarts offer my home.

I was attracted to Sugared Vanilla as I love the smell of vanilla and sweet scents in general. It looked pretty yet subtle. There was no noticeable scent whilst this tart was wrapped and even when unwrapped and solid, I could only detect a faint sweetness from the tart. I assumed that this wouldn't be an overly strong scent before I started burning it. As the tart melted into a cloudy pool of wax, I was quite surprised by the aroma which greeted me.

@Sweet For My Sweet@

Sugared Vanilla is surprisingly deceptive. Hidden under the fresh white exterior, is a delicious, deep aroma. The first time I melted this was an afternoon. I went to clean the bathroom and as I returned to the living room, a succulent, sweet aroma had filtered around the room and was lingering in the hall way. It also floated into my kitchen and was very noticeable. Not as subtle as I originally assumed.

This the perfect day or evening scent but since first melting it, I have mainly melted it in the evening when I can sit in the living room, all cosied up and appreciate the delicious aroma of Sugared Vanilla. I wouldn't say this scent is overpowering in a sickly sweet way - it is noticeable, filters well and any homely aromas are extinguished.

I love the strength of this scent. It is perfectly relaxing yet creates a welcoming ambience for visitors to my home. Sugared Vanilla is a bit different from many of the vanilla based Yankee scents. It has substance and has an almost "crunchy" sugar aroma - like sugar cubes. The vanilla aroma is very natural and is very muchly like vanilla absolute.

Whilst this tart was in use, I was impressed with how "foody" the scent was. It could easily be used in the kitchen without appearing out of place or artificial. Sugared Vanilla makes me think of home baking. The sugar and vanilla blend resembles that of baking vanilla cupcakes - more at the mixing stage when the sugar blends with the other ingredients and a touch of vanilla flavouring.

After each tea light went out, the scent faded gradually but a lovely sweetness hung in the air for 30 mins or so.

@Conclusion@

I would say I got the full 8 hours of consistent scent from Sugared Vanilla. After this time, the scent was very faint and gradually disappeared. I adore this scent as it makes my home smell like I have been doing baking and that is my favourite aroma for my home. I love the layered sort of scent from the sugar as it added something a bit special to a common scent such as vanilla.

I would happily buy this again but might try the Sugar Cane and Vanilla as it carries a very similar scent description and is easier to locate over here.

Overall 5 stars!

Thanks for reading :)
