Yankee Candle Sun and Sand
Advantages: lovely smell, refreshing, natural scent
Disadvantages: not very strong, not as tropical as other Yankee scents
~Sun and Sand~
'A tropical beach breeze of sweet orange flower, lemony citrus, fresh lavender and powdery musk'.
Sun and Sand is one of many Yankee Candle scents. It is widely available in different formats including housewarmer jars, tealights, votive samplers, tumblers and wax tarts. A wax tart is the cheapest way to experience the delights of Yankee Candle. A wax tart is a disc of solid wax which contains pure, natural extracts. The tart should be melted in a tart burner and should offer at least 8 hours of scent.
The Sun and Sand wax tart has a natural, sandy colour. The tart is neatly packaged within a tight, clear wrapper and there are some safety diagrams on the base of the tart. The label on the wrapper illustrates a hammock, a sandy beach and a beautiful blue sea.
~Price and Availability~
A 22g wax tart can be bought online or from your local Yankee stockist for around £1.25. Current stockists include www.yankeescents4.com, www.yankeecandle.co.uk and Amazon.
A true friend knows of my love for Yankee Candles and recently treated me to a lovely, mixed selection of wax tarts. One of these tarts is 'Sun and Sand'. As the weather hasn't been too great recently, I have been melting my Summery wax tarts through the day and my warmer, Wintery wax tarts in the evening. I would highly recommend sampling a wax tart before commiting to buying an expensive candle jar. I favour wax tarts as a way of fragrancing my home.
I always pop a whole wax tart into my burner bowl. In solid form, this tart doesn't carry a very strong smell but I can detect a hint of musky sweetness. As the tart melts, a fresh aroma starts to flow from the tart bowl and filters around my livingroom and adjoining kitchen at a steady pace. Sun and Sand isn't a very strong scent. It doesn't fill our entire flat with scent but I do find that it leaves the air smelling fresh and is ultimately ideal for melting whilst doing my cleaning chores.
Scent-wise, Sun and Sand is very pleasant. It is a light, refreshing scent which leaves my home smelling fresh and clean. It isn't as tropical as other scents in the Yankee Candle range but it is definitely more 'Majorca' than 'Blackpool' if that makes sense! The citrussy notes are the most prominent and enhance the fresh feeling of the scent. A pleasant mix of natural and sweet smelling lemon and orange is noticeable and I find this blend to be beautiful.
After a short while, the citrussy notes are balanced out by light floral notes. I can't say that the lavender is very strong but there is a relaxing tone to the fresh and fruity notes and a simply generic floral feel. The floral notes do not last long at all and soon make way for a powdery, musky aroma. The sweetness from the citrus notes remain noticeable in different strengths whilst this tart is melting and overall, I would say that this is a nice, bright scent to have lingering in my home.
Sun and Sand does have a beach feel to it but not to the extent of others Yankee Scents such as 'Bahama Breeze' or 'Pineapple Palm'. It is a lovely scent though and is perfect for melting during the day. I like melting this whilst doing my Spring cleaning as it enhances the just clean feeling of my home. It is a very natural smelling tart and the description provided by Yankee Candle is very apt given the scent that was released from this tart.
I was able to experience around 8 or 9 hours of scent from this tart which is average for a wax tart. It is worth the rrp cost and is well worth trying. It isn't too feminine smelling so is unlikely to be offensive to male noses!
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: a lovely scent from Yankee Candle
