      Another wonderful fragrance from Yankee.

I have had a bit of an obsession with Yankee wax tarts for a year or so now since I started reading reviews about them on here. I had always loved scented candles but had often been disappointed with the lack of fragrance they provided so decided to give the Yankee wax tarts a try and have not looked back since. I do have my favourite fragranced tarts but also like trying new ones and tend to vary scents depending on the season, choosing heavier spiced scents in winter and more fruity and floral scents in summer. So with Wimbledon approaching and in the hope of some warm weather my last wax tart purchase was Sweet Strawberry. I love the scent of Strawberry's and have been meaning to try this fragrance for sometime, also with just getting a pet cat I am conscious of my home not smelling of 'cat' so thought this would mask any smells even if it is just in my imagination.

Yankee candles can be purchased in a variety of different sizes starting with the little wax tarts and going right up to large jars. The current prices on www.yankee.co.uk are as follows:
      - Wax tart - £1.20
      - Sampler - £1.75
      - Tea light (pack of 12) - £6.25
      - Small Jar - £7.99
      - Medium Jar - £15.99
      - Large Jar - £18.99
      - Small Tumbler - £9.45
      - Medium Tumbler - £14.75
      - Large Tumbler - £18.25
      - Perfect Pillar- £14.99
The candles can also be purchased from various other websites including eBay and Amazon. You can also find them in many department stores and some independent stores. I actually paid £1.25 for the Sweet Strawberry wax tart in a small independent store close to my home but as I had wanted to try this scent for sometime I thought the extra few pennies made it a valid purchase.

The Sweet Strawberry wax tart comes packaged in the same way as all the wax tarts do, in a clear plastic wrapper which is wrapped tightly around the fluted disc of wax. There is a sticker both on the front and the back of the wrapper, the front sticker has a picture of fresh strawberries on it to reflect the fragrance. On the back sticker there are instructions of how to use the tart in pictures and it states that the wax tart has an 8 hour burn time and weighs 22g.

The wax tart is easy to remove from the packaging by using a pair of scissors to snip the plastic open allowing the tart to be taken out. The tart is a bright red colour and is approximately half an inch deep and two inches across. I could actually smell the strong strawberry fragrance of this tart through the wrapper before I had even begun to remove it which made me even more eager to use it. As the wax tarts are just discs of wax and do not have a wick like a candle then you need to use a tart burner with a tea light underneath to melt them to allow the fragrance to be released. You can purchase the tart burners from the above websites or from most Yankee stockists.

After putting this Sweet Strawberry tart in my tart burner it wasn't at all long before the gorgeous, fruity fragrance began to waft around my front room. This is quite a strong smelling tart but one that in my opinion is very pleasant indeed. It certainly reminded me of summer and smells just like strawberries when you pick them but with a slightly added sweetness. Although the tart states that the burning time is 8 hours I find that they do last a while longer. Once your tea light goes out or you extinguish it the wax will start to solidify again, I generally burn one tart for around four nights for a few hours until I begin to notice the scent fading, so I find the tarts very good value as well as great smelling.

Overall I loved this fragrance it was not at all artificial as many strawberry fragranced products can be and left my home smelling lovely and fresh. I could even still slightly smell the fragrance the next day. This is certainly a fragrance I will be purchasing again before the summer is gone.

        One of my favourite fragrances

Whilst on holiday last year, I was browsing a department store when I noticed that several of the Yankee Candle tarts were half price, one of the fragrances was Sweet Strawberry, so me, being a fan of sweet fragrances, picked up as many as I could (about 25 in total!).

There are a lot of reviews on here about the tarts but just in case you aren't sure how these are used (as I wasn't until I joined Dooyoo), all you need to do is remove all the wrapping , place on to the top of an oil burner (in the bit where you would normally put the oil), light a tea light in the bottom as normal. The tart then starts to melt which is when you start to smell the product. Once the tea light has been extinguished, the tart hardens ready to be used again

I knew this was going to be a strong fragrance by the fact that before I even removed from the wrapper the strawberry aroma was quite strong. Within a few minutes of placing in tart burner, the strong smell of sweet juicy strawberries started to spread across my living room, within about 20minutes, the fragrance was present across the whole house. The fragrance is quite realistic (and not synthetic smelling) and couldn't fail to know that it was strawberry.

I keep my burner in the living room on the side, what I like about this fragrance is even when I haven't been burning it, I can smell strawberries when I walk by the burner. I also find that a couple of hours after I have extinguished the tea light, the sweet aroma is still present in my living room.

Yankee say they burn for around 8 hours, I have found this be pretty accurate, but recently I have been reading reviews about people breaking them in half to prolong the usage so the next one I get out, I will be doing this.

Overall, I would recommend this fragrance and I would class it as one of my favourites, when I eventually run out, I will be re-purchasing - 5 out of 5 stars!

        Thanks for reading.

        a great wax tart

As I have said in many other reviews, I love strawberry scented products, my house is coming down with strawberry lip balms, bath products and room body sprays. So when I came across the Sweet Strawberry scented wax tart last Autumn, I just could not help but pick it up and give it a go.

        Scent
The scent that comes from this wax tart is amazing, it is a lovely and sweet strawberry scent that is not too overpowering and does not smell too artificial. The scent from this wax tart smells really fresh and sweet and it fills the room and covers up any unwanted odours really quickly. I personally think that this wax tart is much nicer than the Strawberries and Cream scented one as I think it is much less sickening and a more pure and fresh smell. I find that it is especially handy when the farmers have been spraying the fields beside my house as it seems to almost completely cover up the terrible smell that fills our house from time to time (some would call it 'good country air').

        How It Burns
These wax tarts burn in the wax tart burners, you simply take them out of their plastic packaging, light a tea light in the bottom compartment and then allow the wax tart to melt and the scent is then released.
I have found that the wax tarts are a little bit more economical than the candles as they are so cheap to buy and last ages. Also if you fancy a change of scent, they are only £1.25 to change.
Changing scents however is a little messier than the candles which are just thrown away. To change your wax tart when the scent is all used up in it, you tap the bottom of you wax burner lightly until the wax tart releases.
I find that it can be quite tough to get the wax tart changed, but eventually they do pop out. Then I like to give the base of the wax tart holder a bit of a wipe and then it is ready to be used again.

        Would I Recommend?
I would definitely recommend this wax tart, I love to burn this Strawberry scent up in my bedrooms as it has a lovely fresh, fruity scent to it and also has a lovely summery feel to it which just brightens up the room a little bit too. I am quite adventurous with the wax tarts, especially as they are so cheap compared to the candles, so I will probably try out other wax tarts in the future, but I will definitely buy this one again and would recommend it to anyone who likes Strawberry scented products.
I found that a scent was given from this wax tart for around a month, I burnt it every night for about half an hour and sometimes throughout the day as well. I think that I got a good amount of fragrance from this wax tart, and although the burn time was up to 8 hours, I think I may have gotten longer out of this one.

        Price and Availability
You can buy these candles in a range of different sizes, here is a list of the sizes and prices:
Wax Tart (burn time up to 8 hours)- £1.25
Sampler (burn time up to 15 hours)- £1.75
Small Jar (burn time 25-40 hours)- £7.99
Medium Jar (burn time 65-90 hours)- £15.99
Large Jar (burn time 110-150 hours)- £18.99
I bought this wax tart in the Yankee Candle store in around September time for £1.25. I think that this is a great price for this wax tart as it smells lovely and I have got lots of burning time from it.

        Overall
I think that this is a great wax tart, the strawberry scent is lovely and fresh and does not really smell that artificial or overpowering. Also wax tarts are really economical compared to the Yankee candles in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this product and will probably stock up again with it for my bedroom for Spring coming in. Overall I would give this wax tart 5 out of 5 stars.

          Lovely!

For my birthday this year one of my friends made me up a pamper kit which not only included lots of lovely bath and body treats for me to use but also included some Yankee candle wax tarts for me to use in my burner. One of the tarts she bought for me was the sweet strawberry one and this is my review of the product.

I only really discovered Yankee candles because of reading reviews on dooyoo but I have now used quite a few of them and they are my favourite way of making my home smell nice! Yankee candle wax tarts are a small wickless disc of wax which is designed to be placed in a tart burner and melted under the heat of a tea light candle placed underneath the bowl of the tart burner.

The sweet strawberry wax tart comes tightly wrapped in a plastic packaging which I find is best removed by clipping it with some scissors and then ripping it off. The packaging features a label with the Yankee candle name on as well as the product name and a picture of some bright red fresh looking strawberries which I think gives a clear indication of what the tart should smell like. Smelling the tart before it has been melted I would say that it smells very sweet but also authentic like real strawberries and so I have to say I was looking forward to burning this one.

The tarts are all a uniform size but they fit nicely in to my Yankee branded petal tart burner. I always place a lit tea light under the burner and then go on with my jobs allowing the tart time to melt and release the fragrance because it does take a little while for the wax disc to melt. This particular wax tart is a bright red in colour and looks quite romantic I think as it reminds me of hearts and Valentines Day!

When I returned to my lounge after around an hour the smell of sweet strawberry filled my lounge and I have to say it did smell pretty much like real strawberries which is what I had hoped for. The scent was quite strong too and for those of you that don't like sweet scents I would say stay well clear of this one as you may find it quite sickly. I personally like a sweet scent and so I really did like this one.

A wax tart is designed to give you around eight hours burning time for the £1.20ish that they cost and I would say this tart gave me perhaps a couple of hours extra burning time but at a much weakened scent. For the money that you will pay though I do think this wax tart is an excellent option to give your home a lovely sweet summery scent. I tend to use my wax tarts most often when I am expecting guests because I know that they will fill the air with a nice scent which does last as the tart melts and for a while after the tea light is blown out too and so it seems a nicer way to fragrance my home than if I were to use air fresheners etc.

I recommend this sweet strawberry scented Yankee candle wax tart if you are a fan of sweet and fruity scents. I personally think this one is more suited to the spring and summer months as it is so fruity.

Thank you for reading my review!

          Lovely when mixed

Yankee Candle Sweet Strawberry Wax tart - currently 90p approx burn time 8hrs

I'm a massive fan of most things Yankee, and have in the past loved the smell of strawberry candles so I thought I should give these a whirl. As with other Yankee wax tarts these patties are thin, and flat with a scalloped edge. They come packaged individually in cellophane, and have a sticker on the front describing the contents. They are wick free, and are to be used in 'wax burners' (Available on-line from Yankee from around £5). I have in the past just used a standard oil burner with a small amount of the wax tart in it.

The fragrance is described as being the smell of ripe strawberries, with sugar sprinkled on them. The tarts can be used individually or you can 'mix' flavours to make a unique blend that works for you.

Now I tend to be a fan of all things fruity, and sweet. However this particular wax tart has for me been a little on the sickly side. It does smell like strawberries and sugar - it has just a little too much sugar for my taste. It like all of the others lasts well, and the smell will circulate as others of this brand do. The scent in this wax tart doesn't seem to fade over time.

I have had some success 'mixing' the scent up with things that are not so sweet, (it works well with camomile tea).

For me I cannot recommend the brand enough they feel really lovely and decadent, but this particular scent is not one that will be bulk bought again...

long lasting strong scented wax tart

I love yankee candles but I have always found them to be a little out of my price range, so only usually got them as gifts for christmas. That was until I discovered the wax tarts (thanks to reviews on DooYoo!).

The wax tarts are small little petal shaped wax circles which you melt in an oil or tart burner. They retail for between £1 and £2 depending on where you shop, you tend to be able to find them cheaper online on websites such as Ebay or Amazon though. I would recommend buying the Yankee wax tart burner, which is a lovely little tulip shaped burner perfect for these tarts, and whats better is it only costs around £6 - bargain!

So, the tarts are said to last for around 8 hours burning time, but I have found them to last a lot longer than this. This particular tart is very strong, so I have found that I only have to leave it in the burner with a lit candle for around 10-15 minutes before my whole room and flat smells very strongly of strawberry. Although I do love sweet scents, particularly strawberry, this one is a little bit to sweet and sickly for me. Within around 10 minutes of burning the scent is so strong that if i left it on much longer it would probaby give me a headache. The smell is nice, but there is just a bit too much of it for my liking. Having said this, if I only have to burn this for around 10 minutes at a time and I get a minimum of 8 hours burning time, this tart is going to last me a long time!

Removing the tarts from your burner is very simple, simply push a knife or similar implement into one side and the tart will pop out in one piece. This is great if you want to swap it for another scent halfway through its use.

Overall, this is not one of my favourite scents from the wax tart range. I find it too strong and sickly, but then thats just my opinion on the smell. As a wax tart this is great as your barely have to burn it for any time at all before the scent fills your room - which means it is great value for money. If you like the smell of strawberries and fruit then go ahead and give it a try!

Tea Lights from Yankee Candles. Available in boxes of 12 or can be bought individually

*Please be aware that this review is for the Tea Light variation of Sweet Strawberry, Dooyoo add only 1 entry per Yankee fragrance to their database*

Sweet Strawberry is one of my own personal favourite Yankee fragrances and it's one that I've bought many times in the last couple of years. The wax tart variant of Sweet Strawberry is the strongest smelling in my experience with it and I don't tend to buy it in other formats when I make repeat purchases but in my last mega-pack order with Yankeedoodle I received a number of loose scented tea lights and Sweet Strawberry was included amongst a few others. I already knew how it should smell and recognised the blood red appearance of the wax but wondered if it would translate as well in a smaller, more delicate format - there was only one way to find out, tea lights lit and allowing a little time for the wax to start melting I waited to see if I could detect the delicious aroma of freshly picked Sweet Strawberries.

Yankee's tea lights are sold either in boxes of 12 for around £6.50 or can be bought separately for 85p each, they're self contained coloured, fragranced tea lights which are housed in individual plastic cups and have a burn time of up to 5 hours. As usual with a Yankee Candle product they are made from high quality fragrance infused wax which has a mottled look to it and can either be dotted around a flat surface or can float on water should you be inclined to use them in that way. In my experience with the tea lights I've found them to be very hit and miss and like the sampler candles that Yankee produce they can be far too subtle-smelling to create much interest and if you buy them for the fragrance they release then you can often end up being disappointed with their intensity.

They're not a cheap option as far as Yankee products go unless you buy them individually but compared to wax tarts which cost a little more they don't have anywhere near the amount of fragrance of lifespan a wax tart does and I would always recommend wax tarts over the tea lights to anyone who is wanting to discover if a particular fragrance is going to be right for them. That said, they can make for a nice gift for someone and can often be found on offer so I do buy them from time to time if the price is right and I do like how they look, a few dotted on top of my mantelpiece in my living room can create a nice warming atmosphere and can make for quite a romantic ambience so that's what I did with my Sweet Strawberry tea lights and overall I have to say that I was pretty impressed with them.

As mentioned in my opening paragraph the Sweet Strawberry tea lights are bright red in colour and even in their solid state have a recognisable fruity aroma to them, the fragrance is usually quite strong and sweet and is a fine example of how good Yankee are at replicating this sort of aroma. I had 4 tea lights lit on my fireplace as I've found in the past that 1 or 2 don't give enough fragrance off to be all that noticeable and I think to fully experience and appreciate the scent you shouldn't hold back with how many you use at a time. The wax melts quickly to become a molten liquid in a tea light and its fragrance increases in intensity to become more noticeable after around 20 minutes or so. Sweet Strawberry is as its name suggests, a deliciously fruity fragrance with a sweet edge and brightness that quickly draws attention to itself, it always puts me in mind of the Summer months and I think it's one of the most authentic scents that Yankee have ever produced. It's a juicy fragrance, full of moisture and intensity and even in the small format of a tea light it produces plenty of fragrance which swirls around the air where the tea light sits and although a single tea light doesn't produce anywhere near the amount of fragrance a wax tart does by burning a few at a time you do end up noticing the aroma a lot more.

The wax does burn evenly down to the base of the tea lights and once evaporated all you have left is a red-stained plastic cup which is easy to dispose of and leaves no mess behind. The 5 hour quoted burn time is accurate with these and they produce a consistent aroma throughout the life span of the tea lights and thanks to their small size they don't take too long in being noticeable once they're lit. You should follow the safety advice that comes down to common sense more than anything when you use a lit candle, they're obviously hazardous and potentially very dangerous and shouldn't be left unattended, I've never had one of the tea light's cups to split or break but it stands to reason that there is a naked flame and a very hot liquid wax which could draw unwanted attention from pets or children so you should be mindful as to where they are located when they're being burnt. Used correctly I think that tea lights can be nicely decorative, the fragranced ones from Yankee add an extra interest to a room and whilst they're not my first choice when it comes to the different formats that are produced I do think that the Sweet Strawberry is one that works well as a tea light and they do get my recommendation here.

Overall I was impressed with my Sweet Strawberry tea lights and found them to be almost as good as the wax tart variant, I do recommend burning more than 1 at a time if you want to really experience the fragrance on offer as it's an impressively authentic scent packed with juicy flavour. It remains one of my personal favourites and is a fragrance I often return to as I know it always delivers a sweet, room filling aroma I enjoy, the Tea Lights in particular would make a nice gift to someone I think and are widely available online where they'll set you back around £6.50 for a box of 12 and can also be found on the high street from candle shops and some garden centres.

Four stars as a rating here is fair, they're not as strong as the wax tarts but if you burn a number of these at a time then you'll defintiely be able to experience they fragrance they produce. Thanks for reading my review.

Quite and easy way to fill your home with juicy fragrance.

***THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE WAX TART***

            ---Why I Bought This---

Well I actually bought this with another one from Ebay - and it was the other one I really wanted but as it was a bargain price I thought 'why not?'.
I have two Yankee tart burners and I like to use these as a cheap way to fragrance and freshen my home - but there are so many different fragrance tarts I try to buy different ones each time.

            ---The Brand---

Yankee candles are a well known USA brand which has been going since the late 1960s. Yankee are well known for selling large jar candles, small votive candles, tarts and also attractive jar shades, plates and candle holders. They also now do car air fresheners as well.

            ---What Are Tarts Anyway?---

Well I wondered that myself a while ago when browsing Ebay and finding hundreds of them!
Tarts are little discs of solid wax with serrated edges as if they had been moulded in a cake case.
These wax discs do not have any wicks and are meant to be melted in a burner over a candle for the aroma to be released.
Each tart costs just over £1 and the fragrance is said to last up to 8 hours. After that the wax should be disposed of.
There are literally hundreds of different tarts to choose from and they come in Fresh, Floral, Fruit, Food & Spice and Festive categories.

            ---Tarts V Candles---

I have also been lucky enough to be given one of the large jar candles that Yankee make.
However I would say that the tarts have advantages over the candles.
Large jar candles need to be burnt for 2-3 hours at a time to get the wax to melt in the correct way and not 'tunnel' down the centre.
Tarts can be used for however long or short a time as you wish - the fragrance is released after as little as 5 minutes and they can be extinguished whenever you wish.

            ---Mixology---

Yankee.co.uk have a huge list of suggestions for blending two compatible fragrance tarts together to make a new aroma.

            ---The Product---

Disc of bright red wax wrapped in cellophane.
Sweet Strawberry - with authentic Yankee fragrance.
Image of Strawberries on the front but slightly different to the image above as mine had an oblong label on the front and the name was down the bottom and not in the centre.
The back has a round sticky label which details lots of basic safety advice on using candles etc - one telling you not to heat up in a frying pan!
            22 grams.

            ---Instructions---

To use you must first have either an oil burner or tart warmer and put a tea light on the base and light - the wax tart should be unwrapped from its cellophane wrapping and placed in the dish.
In about 5 minutes the smell begins being released as the wax melts.
Once all the aroma has been depleted and the wax has reset it is just a matter of popping it easily out of the dish and disposing.
You can also pop out the set wax before it is finished if you wish to use another aroma in the tart burner for a change.

            ---Cost---

£1.20 from Ebay - but wax tarts are around that price in most places.
Also available as votive candles and in the larger jars.

            ---My Opinion---

I think this is a delightful fragrance - and especially appropriate for this time of year.
It had a lovely aroma almost before the wrapper was removed. Once opened you can fully appreciate the strawberry smell.
I snapped the tart in four pieces so as to use only a little at a time.
It is a nice bright red colour.
The wax melts quickly once the tea light is lit underneath and soon fills the room with a strong strawberry fragrance. I personally do not leave then melting for hours, once it has been going for about 10-15 minutes I blow out the candle - the smell still remains in the room for quite a while.
I used some i the kitchen and some in the bathroom - this must be an especially good fragrance as my son commented n the lovely strawberry smell in the kitchen (it is unknown for him to comment on my candles and in fact he didn't realise I hd been burning one) and his girlfriend mentioned the nice smell in the bathroom.
It did not have a synthetic fake smell and will definitely be one I would buy again. It is light and fresh and I only have to burn it for a few minutes for the aroma to be fully released. It even faintly smells in the room even when et and just in the burner.
I am sure this will give me way more than 8 hours of fragrance so for just over £1 I believe it to be great value.
I do not like using spray air fresheners and find that a few minutes of burning my wax tarts is enough to provide a pleasant smell in the house.

            one for strawberry lovers!

Yankee Candle originated in the USA. They specialise in scented candles and other treats for the home.

            ~Sweet Strawberry~

Yankee offer a huge variety of scents in various formats. The most expensive options are the tumblers and house warmer jars. If these are out of your price range, tealights, sampler votives and wax tarts come in at a more 'budget-friendly' price.

Sweet Strawberry is a permanent scent from Yankee Candle. It can be bought in all of the above formats. I will be discussing my use of the sampler votive. A votive is a mini sized candle which should be placed in an appropriate candle holder. It features a single wick which runs through the candle and is attatched to a silver disk at the base. Each votive offers around 15hours of burning time.

The Sweet Strawberry sampler is bright red in colour. It is shrink wrapped and a picture label illustrates fresh strawberries. Yankee describe Sweet Strawberry as..

'The essence of perfectly ripe strawberries sprinkled with sugar'

            ~Price and Availability~

Sweet Strawberry is widely available within the UK. Online stockists include www.yankeescents4.com, Amazon UK, eBay and also www.yankeedoodle.co.uk.

Expect to pay around £1.10 (tart), £1.60 (sampler), £6.00 (tealights) and up to £18.00 (jar and tumblers).

            ~My Thoughts~

Sweet Strawberry is a Yankee scent that I have been aware of since Summer time last year. I initially made a purchase of the wax tart as I usually prefer them to samplers. I found the tart in this scent to be far too sickly (even for a sweet toothed person like myself) so decided to try out the sampler. It looks very pretty and on unwrapping the sampler, I was impressed by the beautiful scent which is of course, identical to the tart.

These samplers are the perfect size to fit neatly into my votive holders (which are Yankee but other holders would be suitable). The wick lights easily and the sampler burns down neatly to ensure there is no wastage. A lovely pool of red liquid forms around the wick and looks pretty.

            ~Flickering Fruitiness!~

Sweet Strawberry in sampler form, is just the right strength for my living room in my opinion. The scent is quite rich but not overbearing. It filters nicely and my living room is filled with a strawberry smoothie like scent within 20minutes or so. I personnally find Sweet Strawberry to be a lovely scent for Summer or Spring and it is definitely a day time sort of scent. It has a light, airy feel about it.

The initial scent of Sweet Strawberry is quite unnatural. Thankfully, as the wax melts further, the scent changes a little. The strawberry aroma is boosted and turns to a heavenly, juicy sweet scent which is incredibly fresh and smooth. I love the scent of Sweet Strawberry! It has a very realistic scent and smells exactly like a punnet of freshly washed strawberries.

The scent developes further and becomes more sweet than fresh. The 'sprinkle of sugar' adds depth to the fruity scent and the combination makes me think of a tall glass with strawberries and some sugar over the top. All that is needed is some fresh cream and we have the perfect dessert scent. Sweet Strawberry filters through different stages of sweet, fresh and fruitiness and the scent is kept 'interesting'. At one point, it edges on resembling 'Strawberry Buttercream' which is another popular Yankee scent.

            ~Conclusion~

Sweet Strawberry sampler offers just enough scent to be noticeable in a largish room. It would be stronger in a small area. I personally prefer this in sampler form and will buy it again. It is quite a mood lifting scent and it does take over any homely aromas as well. This sampler offered me 12hours of scent but did start to dilute after 8 hours or so.

            Thanks for reading :)

A great way to fragrance the home.

              ~*~*~*~Sweet Strawberry~*~*~*~

I am somewhat new to the Yankee Candle phenomenon that has taken everyone by storm but I have managed to build up a nice little collection of Yankee Candle Tarts.
I have bought a couple of the samplers but no jars yet, so my reviews on Yankee Candles will mostly be based on the tarts.

              ~ The Range ~

For those who unsure about what is available check out on the internet as there is simply too much to list here, but they are available as a candle in a jar of which there are various sizes, votive samplers which are mini candles and tarts, tarts are small circular discs of scented wax which need to be burned in an oil burner. These are what I am aware of anyway.

              ~ Why Choose Yankee? ~

I chose Yankee Candle tarts after reading numerous reviews about them where nothing bad had been said, everyone raves about how great they are and I have to agree completely.
The tarts, when being burned give off a fantastic amount of scent. I have a three storey house and have one burner downstairs and one on the landing upstairs, the scent will travel through the house brilliantly and I find that the scent lingers on for ages afterwards.

              ~ My Thoughts ~

I am currently burning a Sweet Strawberry tart in my small burner, this is the burner I use upstairs usually but my large one has a Vanilla Cherry tart melted in it so I just used this one.
I purchased this off Amazon a few days ago for £1.20 and I feel this is a brilliant price. When it was delivered it came in a bubble envelope and as soon as picked it up off the floor I knew what it was as I could smell the strawberry scent!
Opening up the envelope I found a little round tart, it does actually look like a tart with the edges being ridged? It is a nice bright red colour and as with all the tarts it is wrapped in a clear plastic film, on the front is a label with the brand name and tart scent, the rest of the label is covered with strawberries.

I use a knife to pierce the plastic packaging then I find it's easy to open up, opening it I broke a chunk off and placed it in the burner and lit a tea light, popped it into the burner and left it to do it's magic.
Within 10 minutes the Sweet Strawberry scent could be smelt really strongly in the kitchen with my little boy commenting how lovely it was. Given another 10 minutes or so and the scent was soon travelling through the whole downstairs of my house.

It's a lovely sweet scent and reminds me of strawberry penny sweets, it's not like fresh strawberries but it doesn't smell particularly artificial either, it is a really nice juicy scent that is quite uplifting and cheery.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              My current favourite Yankee scent

I am very house proud and like my home to look as neat as possible. I have four dogs and so make sure that as well as looking clean and tidy, my home also smells pleasant. As a dog owner, I don't really pick up that much on the smell of dog anymore but am concious that it may smell strongly or unpleasant to visitors, so I make sure that there is some kind of fragrance burning most of the time, and I prefer candles oppose to air fresheners as I have a baby and don't like the idea of her breathing in air freshener due to the various chemicals that are in them.

Yankee candles are a long time favourite of mine and I am always treating myself to new ones. Yankee candles come in a variety of sizes and can be purchased either in jar, votive or tea light form. Yankee candle also do wax 'tarts' which I first tried around a year ago now and I have been regulary buying them since as they're such good value and I love the huge variety of choice. Wax tarts are round wax discs with scalloped edges designed to be melted rather than burnt. Using the tart was a little confusing the first time I purchased one as I had no idea how to burn it due to there been no wick, but I realised after looking online how to use it.

To use a wax tart you will need an oil burner and a tea light. Place the tart onto the top of the oil burner - the tarts are just the right size for both of my oil burners, one is a yankee burner and one is a cheap one from B&M. Then place your lit tea light (unscented is best) insisde your oil burner. The heat from the tea light will soon begin melting the tart and the fragrance is released quickly.

There are a range of different scents ranging from food to floral and my current favourite is sweet strawberry. This comes as a red wax tart and it is wrapped in cellophane with the usual label on the front stating what flavour it is and there is a simply picture of strawberries. I love this particular fragrance as it's such a fresh and summery scent. It really does smell like fresh, juicy strawberries - it doesn't smell artificial or chemical at all, and makes my mouth almost water! Yankee describe the scent as 'perfectly ripe strawberries sprinkled with sugar' and they are spot on. It's a very fruity, sweet scent and although it's sweet I don't think it's overlly sweet or too feminine. The smell is rich and fills the room quickly, it's not a subtle smell however it's not too overpowering either.

Although I personally find it to be quite a summery scent, it would match any season including winter, as it has a warm and comforting kind of feel to it due to the mouth waterring foody scent. The candle can be burnt over and over again by simply placing a tea light inside the oil burner but after a couple of days there is no scent left and the hard wax needs to be scraped out into the bin. We normally light our candles during the evening and this usually lasts for two nights of 4-5 hours burning before the smell isn't as strong and after 3 days the candle no longer releases a scent. I think is a decent amount of time considering that the smell does linger even when the candle is no longer burning, and also the price of these candles are really affordable at £1-£1.50ish each, they're good value. They are available from a range of shops or alternatively can be purchased from a huge variety of online retailers.

Overall, I love this scent. It's nice and strong and masks any household scents, eg the smell of cooking or the 'dog' type of smell that lingers when the dogs come back dirty from their walk. The smell is gorgeous and I really reccomend the sweet strawberry scent!

                Disadvantages

                Lovely!

When it comes to the Yankee Candle Company wax tarts I am really rather addicted to them to be perfectly honest with you. They give me about 8 hours of wonderful and natural fragrance to my home on average and work out not only an effective home fragrancer but an economical one as well as I pick them up in a variety of places such as garden centres and even on Weston Super Mare pier for about £1.20 each!

The one I am burning right now and have been the past couple of hours this morning is the strawberry one. I sniffed it throughs its wrapper prior to purchashing it and it was so nicely fragranced that I bought it.

                The Packaging:

Like all the Yankee tarts this simply comes in an easy to pull off see-through plastic wrapper an on the front of it we are simply told that it is Yankee 'Sweet Strawberry' and there is a picture of strawberries on there, then on the back we are shown diagramns of do's and don'ts and contact details for Yankee are given.

                The Tart Itself:

Basically like all Yankee wax tarts it is a fluted to the edges, thick and round in shape lump of wax tart and in this fragrance that wax is a rich red colour. To use it you simply can pop the whole thing into the top of an oil burner and light a tealight under it or you can break the candle into pieces if you only have a small area to pop it into and you can even mix and match pieces of tarts to customise your fragrance, me though I am a purist and like to just simply burn one fragrance at a time!

What I like about the wax tarts from this brand is that they melt very quickly indeed when there is a flame under them and this one melts into a pool of red transparent liquid in which the beautiful, light and juicy and yet still natural fragrance of srawberries is released. Its a gorgeous fragrance, really sweet as promised and natural and I love it. Whats more this fragrance has been going strong now for the total time of about 8ish hours and even when I blow the flame out the fragrance lingers in my flat for a good hour and when I blow my flame out any wax residue goes back to solid for the next time I want to use it.

I still have a bit of wax tart left which is great and going over the 7ish hours of user time I have with the Yankee tarts usually so I am really pleased with this one and shall certainly buy it time and time again in the future!

For Christmas recently my mum received a lot of different Yankee Candle tarts alongside a burner. One of the fragrances that we have tried and loved is the Sweet Strawberry scent, if you are unfamiliar with the idea of tarts they are basically compressed fragrant waxes without a wick, to release the aroma you simply place the tart in the top of a burner, a tea light underneath will slowly melt the wax and before you know it the air will be filled with a smell that in this case is truly delicious!

Sweet strawberry is just that, I can only describe the aroma as being extremely fruity, practically juicy. The fragrance is rich without being overwhelming and Yankee have managed to capture the smell of freshly picked strawberries straight from fields filled with the glorious red fruits. I was half expecting the fragrance to be artificial, somewhat like the smell that is so often found in cheap body washes but I can honestly say that I was very presently surprised!

The tart itself is a vibrant red in colour and I find that the fragrances of Yankee tarts really do last and they can be burnt for a number of nights before the aroma begins to fade. They are reasonably cheap to buy, I buy mine from Bratts for £1.20 each and they are available to buy in a range of shops both on the high street and online. Sweet strawberry has definately become one of my favourite fragrances, I imagine it will smell even better in the warm summer months.

Another great smell from Yankee Candles

I started using Yankee Candles last year but had only tried a few from the wide range and so for Christmas I asked for a selection from the brand.

                    ==Availability==

We have a small shop in our village that sells lots of decorative items and she carries some of the range and I was surprised to find these in our Local Asda Living store, my Mam sent away for a selection for me from the yankee shop but there are a huge number of online retailers the only drawback of course being that you cannot have a smell of them before your purchase.

                    ==The History==

In 1969 Mike Kittredge was trying to make his mother a gift and so tried to melt down some crayons, somebody saw what he had made his mother and requested they buy the item from him, he allowed them to buy it and made more from supplies bought with the money and the Yankee Candle was born.

                    ==The Range==

Yankee candles come in many different shapes and sizes which all carry relevant price tags, there are over 100 different fragrances and new ones are released throughout the year for different occasions, my guess is valentines day will be the next target.

                    Wax Tartlets - £1.20 - 8 hours burning time
                    Tea Lights - £6.45 for 12 - 4-6 hours burning time
                    Sampler - £1.75 - 15 hours burning time
                    Small Jars - £7.99 - 25-40 hours burning time
                    Medium Jars - £15.99 - 65-90 hours burning time
                    Large Jars - £18.99 - 110-150 hours burning time
                    Small Tumbler - £9.45 - 35-45 hours burning time
                    Medium Tumbler - £14.75 - 45-50 hours burning time
                    Large Tumbler - £18.25 - 70-90 hours burning time

I like to stick to the wax tartlets as it allows me to change my fragrance frequently.

                    ==The Tartlet==

Description from Yankee Candle Simply glorious ... the playful, juicy sweetness of perfectly ripe wild strawberries

This particular tartlet is called Sweet Strawberry and it most certainly is, the tartlet is a really bright red in colour yet once burning it seems to darken to a much more romantic red. The tartlet is packaged in the usual way, a vacuum packed thin plastic wrapper which can be a pain to get into and so I find a pair of scissors to make a little snip the easiest way to open it. The tartlet is the shape of a jam tart which I would gather is where it got it's name from except that this jam tart is full to the top, this is the first Yankee Candle that I have actually been able to see probably millions of tiny wax balls tightly compacted together to make up the tart. The tart is about 5cm in diameter so you wouldn't expect to get 8 hours burning time from it but you do if not more. The front of the packaging has a small sticker on it displaying the name of the tartlet and a picture of numerous strawberries, on the back there is a further sticker and as the tartlet is so small you have some warnings but instead of being in words they are in picture form,

                    Do not add water
Don't melt in a frying pan - who is really that stupid?
The tart is 22g and will burn for 8 hours - I believe some of these burn for more than 8 hours and some lose their smell before the 8 hours is up.
                    Do not use with electric
                    Do not leave unattended
                    Do not use near curtains
                    Keep 10cm between candles
                    Keep away from children

You can smell the scent of the candle through the wrapper and so if you are buying any of them in person you do have a good idea what the candle is going to smell like once it is burning.

                    ==My Thoughts==

The smell is very sweet to say the least so if sweet smells are not your cup of tea then this one is not for you, the smell reminds me of those big strawberry jellies that used to be 4p in with the 1p sweets in the local shop. I burn my tartlets in an official Yankee Candle burner but you can use any form of oil burner aslong as it has the candle underneath, from placing the candle under the wax it takes about half an hour for the tart to completely melt down but you start to smell the fragrance after about 5 minutes. The candles scent is made with natural oils like all the candles and as such the scent is all the way through which I think is what helps the scent to last well. I usually burn my candles once the children are in bed which is usually for about 2 hours per night, on the fourth night the smell wasn't as strong but it was still giving off a scent on the fifth night so i think the longevity of the scent is brilliant. One of the things I like with the Yankee Candles is that when you come downstairs the following morning you can still smell the scent, with this I would say it is most certainly worth the £1 or so paid for it and it is one that I would happily buy again.

                      A must try candle

I'm not a huge candle user but I like them occasional and normally around the festive period. I saw this Yankee Candle on offer in Wilkinson's 2 for £1.50 so thought I would give them ago.

There was a huge range of Yankee candles but these stood out only due to the fact they were on offer.

There were so many different types' jars, tea lights and tarts (the one I brought (pictures above).
There are many scents also - black cherry, tropical fruit, sweet honey suckle, cherry blossom & about 3 festive smells.

This small tart candle is ideal for the bath room, it's shape is flower like and is only about 8cm round and sits about 3cm high.

The strawberry smell is subtle and by no means over powering. Unlike many fragranced candles the strawberry does actually smell of strawberry.
Each candles lasts me about a month as I only have it on when I have a bath, so for me this is excellent value for money.

The large jar candles are about £18 personally it would break my heart to spend that kind of money on a candle but for some people the amount of money they spend on air fresheners and plug ins it would be a money saving options.
I think these candles are second to none and have a lovely fragrance. I would recommend you give these a go.

I'm going to buy a festive one next.
