Advantages: Wax Tarts are a great way to fragrance your home

Disadvantages: None really but this wasnt one of their better smells

When it comes to scented candles Yankee are my favourite. They really are superb quality and come in so many different fragrances and forms its hard to decide which one to choose. I often like to go for the wax tart or a sampler.. It gives me a good idea of weather I will like the fragrance and if its worth buying a large jar.
My recent wax tart was Vanilla Lime. I wasn't sure about this because I couldn't really imagine vanilla with the lime. Anyway, I ordered one along with some other bits to give it a try.
Yankee candles always smell natural, they only use natural extracts to fragrance their wax. The fragrance always goes right through the whole candle, or tart, unlike some cheaper ones which are only coated in a scented wax. This ensures fragrance right through.

The wax tarts from Yankee are approximately the size and shape of a mince pie. They are wrapped in cellophane and have a label on the top. The vanilla and lime tart has what looks like white sorbet on the label along with a slice of lime. To be honest, from the picture, its not immediately obvious what fragrance this is by just looking at the picture, however the label does tell us that its Vanilla Lime. The colour of the wax is quite a bright green and it looks slightly mottled to me.
Yankee actually call their wax tarts "wax potpourri".
To use their wax tarts you will need a burner, just light a tea light, pop it under the burner and place the tart in the dish. The wax is very soft and starts to melt almost straight away.

When I lit the vanilla lime wax tart, as with all Yankee candles, the fragrance soon emerges. The immediate smell is lime, sharp and citrusy, its a lovely clean fresh fragrance. There's also a sweetness to the aroma, this is obviously the vanilla. This wax tart has a very strange smell, sweet and sharp really.
The vanilla lime wax tart is quite a strong smell that soon filters through the house.

Personally speaking I don't think I will buy this one again. Although its quite pleasant I do prefer either a sweet vanilla smell or a sharp fresh citrus aroma. When put together I think they loose something rather than complement each other.

I order my Yankee candles from www.YankeeDoodle.com the tarts cost approximately £1.00 each and Yankee state they will fragrance your home for 5 hours. I would say this is about right.

Although I would recommend most products from the Yankee Candle range, this one is not one of their better ones. I do like their wax tarts though, they along with their sampler candles are a nice way of testing a fragrance without paying out a lot of cash.

My Mum also is a big Yankee fan and often keeps one of the tarts in her airing cupboard, she gets a lovely whiff of fragrance every time she opens the door.

Summary: I love Yankee but not this one.
