Advantages: 8 hours of fragrance, smells lovely
Disadvantages: None at all for me
I love to keep my home smelling nice and one of my favourite ways to do this is with Yankee Wax Tarts, these are small discs of wax that need to be melted in a burner to release their scent. I have my favourites which I often use but am always keen to try new ones. A while ago I bought True Rose and have only just got around to melting it.
Yankee Wax Tarts are little round discs of oily wax that measure approximately 1 x 5cm's and they have a fluted edge just like a little tart. The wax tarts cost approximately £1.20 depending on where you buy from, I personally bought mine from a little independent shop but they are available in some large department stores, Clinton cards and many online shops.
Wax Tart are sold wrapped tightly in a clear plastic wrapper which allows you to see the colour of the wax, despite being all sealed up the fragrance is still strong enough to get a good idea of what it will smell like, True Rose is no exception, when I bought this I gave it a smell in the shop and immediately the rose scent was very evident. The wax tart has a label stuck on the front and this as you would expect shows red roses.
As I mentioned to melt the tarts you need an oil burner, this doesn't have to be a Yankee one they are available on the high street or online however you prefer to shop, you can either melt the whole tart at once or break it up and use a little bit at a time, personally I melt mine whole. Once the lovely rich red wax has melted, which doesn't take many minuets, the lovely rose fragrance starts to fill the air. The smell is obviously floral and not too overpowering but strong enough to fill the whole downstairs of my home and some of the upstairs, my home is open plan so the fragrance does have chance to spread around but I know that the smell from Yankee wax tarts filters through a house that's not open plan as my mum always uses these and she always says that the fragrance filters upstairs at hers too.
Yankee state that their wax tarts should give you up to 8 hours burning time and on the whole I would agree with this, I melt my wax tarts for a couple of hours at a time, this is long enough to fragrance my home and the smell lingers for long after the tea light in the burner has been blown out. I normally leave the wax to set in the dish then just re-melt when ever I want until all the fragrance has gone.
If you like flowery smells then I would certainly recommend True Rose, its a lovely sweet smell and the name is perfect, this really does smell like roses, in my opinion its a fragrance that would be suitable for daytimes or evenings and any time of year too.
Yankee only use natural oils and products to fragrance their wax, the True Rose fragrance can be bought in candle form and also a reed diffuser as well as the wax tarts.
Summary: A lovely fragrance from Yankee
