“ Brand: Yankee Candles / Type: Tray „
---Why I Bought This---
Well in fact I never had to buy this as I was given it as a Birthday present a few years ago by my niece.
Yankee candles are a famous USA brand which has been going since the late 1960s.
Yankee are well known for selling large jar candles, small votive candles, tarts and also attractive jar shades, plates and candle holders. They also now do car air fresheners as well.
Thick china plate to sit a Yankee Jar Candle on.
It is about 1 inch deep ad 7.5 inches across.
Thick and heavy.
It has a cream background with a ring of raised ivy around the outer edge with a blue band.
In the centre is a green background superimposed with a blue check - the green has brush marks.
On the underside are four small rubber feet and a stamp which reads:
Made for Yankee Cande Company.
There is also a sticker which describes it as 'Tulips Lg Tray, made in China'.
One is currently on Ebay for £11.50.
I know my niece bought this for a local family run department store and although this design does not appear on the offical Yankee website it can be purchased online from Ebay.
My niece gave e this as a gift along with the matching shade and a large jar candle.
I was very surprised to begin with as she had wrapped them all up separately so I was a bit confused to unwrap frst the shade (what was it?) and then this tray.
However once I had found the jar candle it all became evident.
The plate, or tray as it is properly called, is very heavy and well made.
I can undestand why my niece picked this pattern as it was not for the tulips but for all the trailing ivy as she knows I collect ivy china and items which have ivy designs.
The pattern of ivy leaves on the plate is raised and very well painted - I believe all these plates and shades are hand finished.
Definitely a product of quality and one you would be happy to give as a gift to anyone.
Mine is still as good as new and has been on display and used under lit candle jars.
Although called the 'Tulip' pattern it is not just tulips - which do not feature at all on the tray and only incidentaly on the accompanying shade.
This is not a requirement when using jar candles but using the tray and shade does finish off the candle nicely and it looks attractive on display even when not being used and lit.
