~Vanilla Caramel~
'The delectable aroma of creamy vanilla ice cream laced with swirls of sugary caramel'
Vanilla Caramel is a USA exclusive scent offered by Yankee Candle. The wax tart version of this scent is available in the UK.
A wax tart is a disc of solid wax which has been infused with natural extracts. A wax tart can be melted in a regular or an electric tart burner and can be reused until the scent is gone. Yankee Candle state that this tart should offer at least 8 hours of scent. This particular wax tart is neatly wrapped in clear plastic. The label illustrates bowls of ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce - yum!
~Price and Availability~
Within the UK, this 22g wax tart is quite rare. It is available from www.yankeescents4.com and eBay UK for between £1.65 and £1.75 per tart.
~My Thoughts~
I think I am addicted to Yankee Candles - I admit it! I love melting wax tarts as they provide my home with a gorgeous fragrance. As well as having many favourites from the range that Yankee released in the UK, I am also a fan of some of the USA exclusive scents. I am very happy that I can purchase these scents over here and whilst they are often around 50p more than a UK tart, the price is justified in my opinion. During my last eBay splurge, I ordered a few USA exclusive tarts that I had yet to try.
I love sweet scents so was immediately attracted to Vanilla Caramel. I had previously sample Creamy Caramel but with the promise of an ice cream scent, Vanilla Caramel had more appeal so I couldn't resist buying it. The tart looked like solid caramel and very edible but I resisted the temptation to have a nibble. Unwrapping the tart, the smell was to die for. It reminded me of old fashioned penny caramels. Very nostalgic.
I chose to melt this wax tart in my electric burner. It melted quickly and evenly. The first time I melted this tart, I had the burner in the kitchen whilst I was cooking. I found that the scent was strong enough to eliminate the left over cooking smell and was a treat to witness as I cooked the dinner. The strength of this scent is just right given how sweet it is. Any stronger then it may be a bit sickly smelling. The scent flows beautifully and filters around my kitchen and livingroom but no where else in my home.
I absolutely love the smell of Vanilla Caramel. Not only does the melted wax resemble a pool of melted caramel, it smells exactly like it too. The vanilla ice cream scent is very evident. It smells like a luxurious, creamy and natural vanilla ice cream rather than a cheap, plain ice cream. The caramel adds a warm touch to the scent and is sticky, sweet and flavoursome. It is a true gourmand treat and is absolutely heavenly. There is a pleasant balance between the vanilla and caramel notes. Both are of a high quality and smell exactly as they would if mixing them in a bowl to create a posh dessert.
~Conclusion~
I thoroughly enjoyed trying out Vanilla Caramel. I favoured melting this in the evening as it is a warm, inviting and comforting scent which leaves my home smelling beautiful. At no point does the scent become overbearing or sickly. I chose to melt this for a few hours at a time and after blowing the tealight out, I found that the scent remained in the air for a short while before whispering away. I witnessed around 9-10 hours of fairly strong scent from this tart before it became a bit weaker. I would say that you do need to be a fan of sweet scents in general to appreciate all this tart has to offer.
I would happily buy this again and can recommend it.
Thanks for reading :)
