WHAT IS IT?

A wax tart from Yankee Candle that is called Vanilla Satin.  You need to own a wax tart burner to use it and it releases fragrance when you put a tealight beneath the tart to allow it to melt the wax.

THE FRAGRANCE

The smell of Vanilla Satin is mainly vanilla but this is mixed with rose and sandalwood.  The first fragrance you will notice is the vanilla and that is quite quick to get into the air when the wax starts to melt.  After that the vanilla mixes with the rose and a more flowery fragrance starts to push through, the sandalwood is very light and gives the vanilla a bit of a spicy and woody fragrance. That's good because it takes a bit of the sweetness away but I think it interferes with the vanilla a bit too much.

WHAT I THINK

I like vanilla but was not very happy with Vanilla Satin because it is not very strong and I don't like the way the sandalwood has been added.  The fragrance only stays in the room where my tart burner is and when the tealight goes out the smell fades very quickly so that after much less than an hour there's no indication that I have used a Yankee Candle fragrance.

The vanilla part is very pretty because it is sweet and natural instead of being the fake sort of vanilla that is usually in scented candles.  It is quite rich to start with but then when the flowery fragrance mixes with the vanilla the whole fragrance dies down.  When I am sitting in the lounge I can smell Vanilla Satin better if I am sitting close to the wax tart burner.

As soon as the tealight goes out the smell starts to fade quickly and after about 20 minutes there's nothing there at all apart from a fresh smell.   This vanilla fragrance is very beautiful but it needs to be stronger to be able to compete with other vanilla Yankee Candles like Christmas Cupcake.
