I love my home to smell nice and fresh, there's nothing worse than walking into a room and being greeted with nasty cooking smells, one of my favourite ways of doing this is with Yankee products, wax tarts or candles. Most times I buy the wax tarts as they cost approximately 99p - £1.30 depending on where you buy them from, or if you are lucky 50p in a sale, this way you can try the fragrance without spending too much money, Yankee candles can be expensive to buy and I don't see any point in paying a lot of money for something you may not like the fragrance of. One of the wax tarts I used recently was Wild Passion Fruit, I bought it from Amazon for the price of £1.20.
Wax tarts are simply little wickless discs of oily wax that need to be melted in order to release the fragrance, to do this you do need an oil burner and unscented tea lights. Wild Passion Fruit is made from light green wax and the tart is tightly wrapped in clear cellophane, on the front of Yankee wax tarts you will always find a label with a picture on it depicting the fragrance. Wild Passion Fruit has, as you may expect, a picture of both the passion fruit and flower, its actually a pretty colourful label. Despite being tightly wrapped you can still smell the fragrance through the wrapping giving you an idea of what the wax smells like.
When I popped the unwrapped wax tart into my burner dish and lit an unscented underneath it didn't take long for the wax to melt into a clear green pool, it also didn't take long before the most delicious fragrance started to fill the air. Wild Passion Fruit just screams summer to me, its fruity with a lovely sharpness to it and also a slight floral element although the ingredients are given as passion fruit, melon and mandarin. The aroma has soon worked its way around the downstairs of my home and also upstairs too. Its not an overpowering fragrance but its a very clean smell.
I always melt my wax tarts for a couple of hours at a time, I find the smell lingers for a long while after the tea light has been blown out and I find I get the best from the Yankee tarts by doing it this way.
Yankee only use natural oils and ingredients in their wax and this is reflected in the smell, Wild Passion Fruit smells naturally fruity, there's nothing false about it. I find on the whole Yankee tarts give up to 8 hours of fragrance as Yankee state they will and sometimes more making them really good for money.
I would personally say this is a daytime fragrance, I wouldn't use this in the evenings, it could also be described as a summer time fragrance but personally I would use Wild Passion Fruit all year round, it leaves such a fresh clean smell behind.
Yankee advise that their wax tarts can be mixed together to create your own fragrance combinations, I have never done this and certainly wouldn't alter the smell of this one.
If you like your home smelling clean, summery and fresh then I would recommend Wild Passion Fruit either in wax tart or candle form.
Yankee wax tarts can be found in lots of online shops and some department stores and independent shops too, also Clinton Cards, if you still have one near you, sell them.
Summary: The smell of summer all year round
