I have had a few yankee candles but I think when the candles have been blown out, the burning smell ruins the scent for a while so a good replacement for this has been using the wax tarts instead. You can buy the wax tarts from yankee candle for around £1 depending where you buy these from, how you can use any sort of wax tart in this burner it doesn't have to be the yankee candle brand.

The shape of this is like a typical vase to me, wide at the bottom going inward and then back out a little at the top. This has two levels to it, the bottom level you place a tea light candle, it would be best to get the ones that burn for 8 hours that way the candle lasts as long as the wax tart does. It's best to get a plain one so it doesn't interfere with the scent of the tart. There is an archway in the bottom and this is where you put the candle in, you can place this anywhere but I have mine in the middle. Next you have a curved dip in the top, this is where you place your tart, once the candle is a light the tart will heat up and begin to melt to give off a lovely aroma. There is also little holes going around the middle part, this helps release the fumes from the candle.

I have this downstairs in the main living room, my dad doesn't mind it being there because it looks nice and I'm always the one who cleans up and gets the house smelling lovely, I usually go for the fruity scents. I sometimes put a full one of these in the top but sometimes I will break the tart up and put it in so I can change the scents on a daily basis.

The burner itself is made of a thin glass which makes it very light weight and easy to move around which is both good and bad, good because it's easy but bad because it can easily be knocked off because it has no weight behind it. The design on this is an autumn design, when looking for one I never purposely looked for this one, I just wanted something plain and simple and this is a very neutral design without it being too plain. The gold bands and the brown wheat goes well with the decor in the living room as well so it fits in nicely.

As for cleaning every time a tart has been finished I wipe this over with a cloth and tooth pick and left over wax from the tart or the tea light candle. Also you can get a black build up from the candle if you don't keep this clean but this is easy to remove if you keep on top of it.

Overall this is a handy item to have if you don't want to buy the expensive yankee candles, this burner is also only £12. This would make for a lovely mothers day present as I got my mother one and she loves it.
