It wasn't until recently that after reading so many reviews, I decided to try the Wax Tarts by Yankee candles. I needed to buy a wax burner and looked on the internet at a few different designs including the petal one's which I have read many reviews about. My boyfriend's mum happened to pop round one day and handed me a wax burner, which I hadn't seen before. I noticed that on the bottom of the burner it had a sticker saying Yankee Candles, so this was obviously made by them. I loved the look of the burner as it was neutral colour and would sit perfectly on the table in the lounge.
~ THE WAX BURNER ~
The Wax burner is part of the White Heart collection. This collection has a range of products in the same design which includes Small & Large shades, Trays, Tea-light holder and Votive holder. All of these products are the same colour and have beautiful cut out heart detailing on each item. The wax burner is white in colour which is slightly glossy and is made from what I would say was Ceramic or something similar. The burner is a nice shape with smooth finish to it. At the bottom of the burner is a cut out hold, which enables you to pop the tea-light into the burner. I noticed that there's actually a circle stencil so to speak in the middle of where the tea-light sits to ensure you put it directly in the middle or the burner. Near top of the burner there is cut out hearts which go all the way round the burner with some cut out dot's detailing to add to the hearts. These aren't in a straight line but are in more of a wavy line around the burner. On the top you can see where the wax tart sits. This is a nice sized space for it to melt and is very smooth inside. The burner itself is approximately 4cm high and is about 4.5cm wide at its widest point.
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
Although this was given to me, you can purchase the wax burner from www.yankeedirect.com for £9.25. You can also purchase the other items in this range as well. I haven't seen the burner anywhere else to buy as it seems that the other burners are more popular than this one.
~ USING THE BURNER ~
I put a wax tart on the top ready for melting and then lit a tea-light and placed it into the burner. I decided to use one of the large sized tea-lights rather than the small one's as I find that these go out too quickly. Although I was using one of the larger sized tea-lights this was easy to put into the burner, due to the space they had cut to enable the tea-light was placed in there safely and correctly. The fact that there's a slightly raised circle made it easier when to know the tea-light was in the right place. As wax tart started to melt I got the scent of the tart and it filled the room with a delicious smell.
Quite often I get some left over residue of wax on the sides of the burner and although it says you can't wash the product I find that it wipes down very easily with a damp cloth. Another bonus of using this burner is that if the all the wax tart hasn't been used but I fancy a different scent/tart, very carefully with a blunt knife if I try to prise the wax off this comes off in one larger bit and I can then keep this and finish using it at a later stage.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
I love the simple design and basic colour of this burner and much prefer this to the burner that I was originally going to buy. I probably wouldn't buy any of the other products in the white hearts range; how-ever the burner along with one of the products in this range would make a lovely gift. As the burner is a neutral colour it goes very well with the black and white colour theme of my lounge and looks really nice sat on the table. The burner can be wiped down with a damp cloth to keep it looking nice & clean. I would recommend the burner to others as it's a beautiful, simple design. I give the product 5 out of 5 stars.
