Advantages: Excellent longevity, great fragrance
I was in my local branch of Collectables recently browsing the huge array of Yankee candles they stock. I was looking to buy a few wax tarts and as well as picking up a couple of favourites of mine I was also looking through those I have yet to try.
There were quite a few I had not actually seen before and this Cranberry Ice wax tart was one of them. Now I have tried the Cranberry Chutney wax tart before and enjoyed it and so as soon as I spotted Cranberry Ice I picked it up and held it up to my nose. It had a lovely fruity scent which appealed straight away and whilst not the strongest smelling wax tart I thought, it was still a very attractive fragrance and so I bought one.
I didn't expect it to be one of the strongest smelling tarts when burning based upon that initial sniff, because usually I have found that those which smell the strongest whilst still in the wrapping are the ones which smell the strongest when melting and also give the greatest longevity.
On this occasion I was pleasantly surprised and proved wrong however, when despite not having the strongest fragrance whilst still in its wrapping, Cranberry Ice proved to be a strong smelling fragrance whilst in use in my burner and also gave excellent longevity.
I must also mention how attractive this wax tart looks whilst still in its wrapper. The dark red wax and the photograph of cranberries with a covering of ice on the packaging looks very festive indeed.
After placing the wax tart in the well of my burner and lighting a tealight to place underneath, it was only a couple of minutes from the wax to beginning to melt, before I began to smell the fruity fragrance appearing. It slowly became stronger and stronger and eventually filled the room with its fruity scent. The fragrance even wafted out into the hallway and up the stairs and my family commented on just how nice it was.
When burning Yankee wax tarts I have found the longevity of the scent released varies from fragrance to fragrance. Yankee state you can expect up to 8 hours of scent from a wax tart, but I have found that very often it has been more than this and on the odd occasion, sometimes less.
As I mentioned earlier, I did not expect Cranberry Ice to be one of the strongest smelling wax tarts when in use, nor did I expect it to exceed the 8 hours average scent, therefore I was surprised at just how strong Cranberry Ice turned out to be. I actually managed around 12 hours of fragrance from my wax tart before it began to weaken considerably.
After lighting a tealight on an evening and placing it underneath the tart in my burner, I allowed the tealight to burn out which took around three hours. During that time the fruity, cranberry scent was really lovely and filled my home. The fragrance also hung in the air for hours after the tealight had burned out. Indeed as I came down the stairs the next morning I could still smell the fruity fragrance hanging in the air, so the longevity of this fragrance is excellent.
I can definitely recommend Cranberry Ice and this wax tart has secured a firm place amongst my favourites. My daughter loved it so much she went out the next day to buy one for herself. If you love fruity fragrance and like a Yankee wax tart to give you great longevity then Cranberry Ice is one to try.
I purchased mine from Collectables and it was priced at £1.20, but you can also purchase Yankee candles from Clintons, as well as department stores, other card and gift retailers and also online from the Yankee website and also Amazon and Ebay.
Summary: Another quality Yankee product.
