Advantages: Fresh, Bright, Fruity fragrance, Excellent longevity, Fantastic value for money for the wax tart
Disadvantages: None for me
I recently read the other review on Dooyoo about this new Yankee fragrance and decided at the next available opportunity to try Cranberry Ice out for myself, I've been a big fan of the products Yankee produce for the past few years and enjoy the variety and authenticity of their candles and wax tarts. Cranberry Ice appealed to me just from it's name, Yankee have produced other fragrances featuring this light, sweet fruit and they've always been amongst my favourites and the ones that I tend to buy on a regular basis. Paying a little over a pound for my Cranberry Ice wax tart a little while ago I finally got around to trying it out for myself yesterday and this is what I thought of it.
As always with a Yankee wax tart Cranberry Ice is a flat, fluted piece of solid wax which is designed to be melted on a tart burner, essential oils and fragrances are infused into the wax mixture and once melted by means of a lit tea light they usually emit around 8 hours worth of fragrance although this can vary depending on the fragrance you buy. This particular one is deep red in colour and even in it's plastic wrapper it has a fruity, sweet smell that makes quite an impact, it's a recent release so quite new in the shops and is perfect for the colder, Winter nights of the year. It doesn't take long for the fragrance to burst out of the wax tart once it starts to melt and after only a few minutes I could detect that Cranberry inclusion that I recognised from other Yankee fragrances.
Unlike Cranberry Chutney (another Yankee Cranberry fragrance) which is quite a deep, delicious fragrance this one is lighter and brighter which befits its 'Ice' name. It's definitely fruity, very mouth-watering and a real room-filler without being overpowering, I had mine melting for most of the day yesterday and even after my tea light had extinguished I could still smell the aroma hanging in the air and walking into my living room this morning I could faintly detect its presence. Cranberry Ice should definitely appeal to anyone who likes the fruity and bright fragrances Yankee are renowned for, there are highlights of brightness that stops the fragrance from being too cloying and it did put me in mind of a crisp, Winters morning so ideal for this time of the year.
Yankee always do 'berry' fragrances well I think and this one is no exception, it's not terribly different to 'Chutney' I must admit once it becomes established during the middle hours of being melted but it is a fresher take on a Yankee classic and one that definitely appealed to me. It does travel well around a home, I could smell this in my other rooms yesterday and for a hallway or living room I think it would be very well suited and for the price the wax tarts cost to buy I think value for money wise this one is excellent. I easily got over 8 hours of fragrance from mine yesterday and even though my wax tart is still in my burner now I think it will withstand another melting just to squeeze every last drop of fragrance out of it.
All in all Cranberry Ice has plenty going for it and would be a fragrance I buy again, it's easily found in all Yankee stockists so tracking one down shouldn't be a problem and from me gets a perfect 5 star rating here thanks to its authentic, bright fruity fragrance and its exceptional value for money. Definitely recommended, thanks for reading my review.
