Yankee Vanilla Lime
Advantages: Smells nice before being burnt? if thats an advantage?
Disadvantages: doesnt smell while burning
I love Yankee Candles, and around christmas I ALWAYS splash out on one of the big jar versions that retail for around £17 - and I am never disappointed. However, last christmas I got a multipack of lots of different festive fragrances in this small tester size, and I have to say I was very disapointed. Not with the selection of fragrances, as they all smelled lovely - until you lit the candle. I found with all the tester sized ones - this one in particular - there was just no scent when it was lit. For those of you who dont know, Yankee candles usually fill up your entire room with a lovely scent whilst they are burning, but I found that these smaller versions do not.
So, for anyone who hasnt heard of the Yankee Candle or doesnt know anything about them, I will provide a little bit of information...Around in some form or another since 1969, the Yankee Candle has become the most recognised and best loved name in candle production business. Their website has quite a sweet story about how Yankee Candle was created:
'Christmas 1969. Seventeen-year-old Mike Kittredge, too broke to buy his mother a present, melted some crayons to make her a candle. A neighbor saw it and convinced Mike to sell the candle to her. With that small stake, he bought enough wax to make two candles - one for his mom, and another to sell. That was the birth of Yankee Candle.'
Vanilla is one of my all time favourite fragrances, I absolutely love the scent of it and have so many vanilla scented or flavoured things. I also love limes and lime juice - I thought the two paired together sounded a bit strange, but it is actually a really good combination! The sweet scent of vanilla mixes well with the zesty and citrius-sy scent of the lime. This size candle comes shrink wrapped but you can really smell it through the plastic so I was really looking forward to lighting it and filling my living room with the sweet refreshing scent!
Unfortunately, I found with this size candle (no matter which scent I lit) it just didnt have the same effect as the larger sized ones that come in a glass jar. The smell didnt fill my room and I could barely smell anything to be honest, although it did burn for a long time considering its size. This was a massive disappointment, especially since the box set of the tester sized ones was probably quite expensive. But atleast I know now not to buy the cheaper smaller ones in the future.
So I think Yankee Candles are amazing and their scents are incredible, and the bigger more expensive ones are definitely worth their money. However I recommend you avoid the temptation to buy these smaller tester sized ones, as you will be disappointed and possibly put off buying Yankee Candles in the future!
Summary: Great candles but avoid these smaller tester versions!
