Advantages: lifetime garuntee, easy to use, many different designs

Disadvantages: hinge gets loose quite quickly

Zippo lighters are one of a kind, unique in there own little way.
Each one stamped with there proof of what they are, and if they are real.
Zippo lighters require 4 things. : Wicks, fuel, flints and care. You can't just shove any old flints and wicks in there, be respectful to your zippo give it what it wants, ZIPPO wicks, ZIPPO flints, other wise your just going to void your warranty if it breaks. As you know zippo's come with a lifetime guarantee which is the most you can ask for, It's great. If you use other flints and wicks not Zippo and it breaks you will not get this service so it's better to be safe than sorry,
Zippos are made in Bradford pensylvania in the usa and used to cost around $1.50. On to the actual lighter. There are many designs you can get, some containing the zippo brand name and logo, some random patterns and some symbols or meanings.
You can tell what year your zippo was made by looking at the bottom stamp on the left of the zippo logo there will be a letter this tells you which month the zippo was made. a=january b=february etc. to the right of the zippo logo there will be a number eg. 09 etc this means the zippo was made in 2009.
when you first get your zippo it will arrive in a black box with zippo written on the front, it will not come with any fuel so you will need to fill it up.

HOW TO FILL: First remove the insert from your zippo case, turn your insert upside down and hold open the felt pad, open the lighter fluid safety cap (you can use your zippo case lid to do so) slowly tip the fluid into the cotton balls by gently squeezing the lighter fluid can, hold for about 5 seconds and STOP. leave for around another 5 seconds and pour again, this time for 3 seconds. put the felt pad back down and replace the insert back into the case. shut the fluid can lid and return back to storage place for further use. always store the fluid in cool dry places with the lid shut other wise the fluid will evapourate.

HOW TO REPLACE FLINT: first take a flint from the dispenser by turning it upside down at turning the wheel till you can get the flint. then unscrew the flint chamber screw ( you can do this with the lid of your zippo case) then remove the top screw spring and spacer ( genuine zippo's have a gold spacer) put these to the side. now if your flint has completely run out nothing will come out but if it hasn't tip up the insert till the flint comes out, next take the new flint and put it in the tube, replace the spacer, spring and screw and tighten with screwdriver or zippo case lid, finally replace the insert back into the case and your ready to go.

HOW TO REPLACE WICK: You first need to remove the are yon balls from inside your zippo so the hole at the bottom of the chimney is exposed, you then thread the wick from the underside of the zippo up and out of the top of the chimney and align it with the top of the chimney. then as you put the are yon balls back in start winding the wick round them so it can get an even amount of fuel. once this is done replace the felt pad fill the lighter by saturating the are yon balls in zippo fuel and replace the insert back into the case, your zippo should be ready to go again make sure you follow these guide lines and your zippo will live a long and happy life.

Zippos are definately a better buy for those on the go smokers or just collectors they may not be that cheap but they will live a lifetime literally with the lifetime garauntee whats not to like.
