Advantages: Disinfects and leaves a clean fresh smell

Disadvantages: none

In these days of multi-tasking bacteria, that can fly swim and god knows whatever it is even more important to keep surfaces clean and free from germs. There are of course a multitude of products on the market to aid you in your efforts, and they all seem to be equally adept at their chosen task.

I do not think that many would put a price on such items, but I do think that the manufacturers are aware of this and hence the sometimes extortionate prices. There are however some companies who are seeming fighting the battle along with the housewife/husband and price their products in a reasonable bracket.

Thornton and Ross the company behind Zoflora are one such unit. Zoflora is quite a powerful and destructive liquid which kills many of the bacteria that cause us all the most discomfort. The ones that cause serious tummy upsets and the like. it also has the added advantage of coming in several very nice fragrances, our current bottle of 120ml Zoflora is the Cool and fresh version although my own favourite is the citrus one.

The Cool and Fresh smells slightly less strong than the other odours, the floral one is particularly overpowering when sampled straight from the bottle. This problem if one can consider it one is easily remedied since this product should be diluted in water before use. This reduces the powerful aroma to a more tolerant level.

It is advised on the bottle not to use this product neat, but it does not give a specific reason for such a warning. The dilution of the concentrate is 1 part Zoflora to 4 parts water. I usually use warm water because it helps disperse the aroma better.

Once you have your concentrate diluted and ready for use the rest is easy. Simply soak and squeeze rinse a clean wiping cloth in the solution and wipe down the surfaces to be disinfected. I have found it to be very good on floors especially Lino type flooring which tends to cling on to dirt better than most surfaces. In the case of doing a floor I do tend to make the solution a little stronger say 1 part to 3 and use slightly hotter water to aid the evaporation process.

The product does not remove grease and grime so this should be removed first using your usual kitchen bathroom cleaner. And then simply wipe with Zoflora. There are no warnings on the bottle as to whether it might cause skin reactions but I have not had any problems so far, except for the fact that the smell clings to your hand for ages unless some rubber gloves are worn. There is advice on what to do should some splash in your eye, and that is the standard procedure of rinsing with lots and lots of cold water.

At around 89p to £1.00 per 120 ml bottle I have found it to be an excellent product which leaves the cleaned area smelling clean and fresh. A definite must to help keep these little blighters at bay.

Summary: An excellent product and a reasonable price.

I didn't know that this was still on sale, my nan always had a bottle of this under the kitchen sink. I remember the really strong floral smell.
