Zoflora Concentrated Disinfectant
Advantages: Cleans and disinfects
I like having a clean house and I actually enjoy cleaning as the satisfaction of having a freshly clean house to me is a great feeling. I don't tend to buy the latest cleaning products on the market, I just use the ones that work for me and that I know work.
One product which I have been using for the past few years is something that both my mum and grandmother used and I think I use it more because of the fragrances remind me of both my mother and grandmother which of course bring back many happy memories. Zoflora disinfectant is a key product in my cleaning supplies.
So where does Zoflora come from?! Zoflora was created way back in 1922 by Nathan Thornton and Philip Ross. Mr Thornton worked in a tar distillery and ammonia works which produced a range of products including disinfectants. With Mr Thornton's knowledge he was able to produce a disinfectant with a fragrance from flower oils. It was originally created for commercial use, such as killing germs in factories but it was soon created for the public and was sold in chemists. Zoflora has always been available in a variety of beautiful fragrances which due to having a higher concentration than most household products it lasts a lot longer.
The disinfectant comes in a small 120ml plastic bottle with a white screw top. It is housed in a little card board box which has a picture of what scent it is, i.e. if it's the sweet pea fragrance it has a picture of a sweet pea. The usage instructions are on the back of the box. Generally 1 cap (10ml) will make around 400ml of diluted disinfectant. You will however need a spray bottle as it is the easiest way of using the disinfectant. I currently use an old 500ml spray bottle which I find is ideal. Zoflora is a clear yellow/ golden colour which when diluted with water turns to a misty white colour.
Zoflora is ideal for cleaning anywhere in the house, the kitchen, bathroom, utility rooms. It is suitable for all surfaces whether tiled, metal or basically anything else it really does disinfect everything! However, you should wear gloves when using it and should be kept out the way of pets and children. I have 3 cats in my home and they tend all to disappear when a spray bottle comes out from the cupboard but I do ensure that if I have sprayed it onto my sofa that it has dried before they come back into the room. Zoflora can also be used as an air freshner and again I make sure my cats are out of the room for some considerable time so it has dried.
I find that Zoflora isn't great on tackling stains on say the kitchen worktop or tiles (especially the splashback at the back of my cooker) and I do need a little help from a cleaner which has bleach but for everyday cleaning it does a great job and it leaves a lovely fragrance which lasts for hours and makes a nice change from a bleach fragrance. The only thing you can't use it on is polished wood.
I have also started to use Zoflora when I wash my partners work clothes. He is a head coach for a football team and everyday he needs his kit washed due to getting sweaty etc. I use two capfuls (20ml) in with my usual powder/ tablets and I've found it really refreshes his kit as well as killing off any bacteria lurking around!
Zoflora has a unique triple action formula which kills off bacteria and viruses with the added touch of having a lovely fragrance which makes cleaning a nicer experience for all! Zoflora is currently available from a wide range of supermarkets and I tend to pick up my bottle from discount stores for about 89p but I have seen it marketed for slightly higher but as it seems to last quite a considerable time it is far cheaper in the long run than any other disinfectants on the market.
Zoflora Disinfectant is currently available in the following fragrances:
Bouquet, Citrus Fresh, Cool & Fresh, Flowershop, Hyacinth, Lavender, Lilac, Lily Fresh, Rose, Springtime and Sweetpea.
Zoflora do bring out new fragrances every now and again which means they do have to discontinued some fragrances. But as Sweet pea has been manufactured for around 80 years it really shows that some of the fragrances manage to stand the test of time!
I like the range of fragrances which Zoflora make and I tend to get a different fragrance every time I buy a bottle. Currently I am using Cool & Fresh which is incredibly light but provides a lovely refreshing fragrance. It is slightly floral but without being sweet. It reminds me somewhat of the fresh linen fragrance you can get in other products (air freshener etc).
What Zoflora says about Cool & Fresh:
"A beautifully refreshing floral scent. Its light fruity notes, with delicate floral and a fresh herby tang create an uplifting and revitalising atmosphere wherever it's used.
Home Recommendation: Utility Room - a breezy scent that leaves areas fresh
Zoflora Emotions: Tranquil but also revitalising
Zoflora Month: August - the airy scent gently lifts long humid days."
For me I would be without Zoflora in my cleaning regime as the fragrance lasts for hours and really refreshes my whole house. It is ideal for using on the carpets to freshen them up a bit and I also use it on the sofa everyday just to give it a freshen up. It is certainly a cheaper disinfectant on the market but I think it is a lot better than most, especially as it has a whole range of uses. I would definitely recommend it to all.
Summary: A great allround disinfectant
