The pizza cutter. Is it a completely pointless kitchen gadget? You may well think I can just use a knife to cut my pizza. But if you're a fan of kitchen gadgets like myself, then it's a worthwhile thing to have. After all, you don't NEED a sports car to get you from A to B, but it's more fun!

So what's so special about this pizza cutter? Well for a start, it actually cuts pizza. I've used cheap ones in the past and they really are a waste of space. But this one has a sharp metal blade, which has a removable plastic cover to protect both the blade and your hands from damage when it's being stored. The sharp blade slices through pizza like a hot knife through butter.

It looks different from most other pizza cutters, which usually have a handle with the round blade at the bottom. This one has the blade encased in plastic, which forms the handle, so it is very easy to roll over your pizza to cut it, just like a wheel.

Another great thing about this pizza cutter is that all the plastic dismantles for really easy cleaning, even the cover for the blade can be opened out, so there's no excuse for it being dirty!

The packaging is very minimal, as the pizza cutter is simply attached to a piece of cardboard with a couple of wire ties. The instructions are represented with images, but if you really don't know how to use a pizza cutter then you really do need help!

It doesn't specifically say it can be put into the dishwasher, but there is a picture of a dishwasher on the cardboard so I assume this means it can be. However, it is so easy to clean in the sink that no dishwasher is necessary.

When the cover is on, the pizza wheel forms a circle, which measures 5.5 inches in diameter, so it will take up a fair bit of drawer space.

These retail at under £10, which isn't too bad, especially if you eat a lot of pizza. It could also be used to cut pastry, so it can be a multi-tasker in the kitchen!

So it's not a kitchen essential, but great if you're feeling extravagant!
