At ten times the speed of Ethernet, the NETGEAR FE500 series provides fast information exchange, resource sharing, and client/server or peer-to-peer communication using simple Category 5 UTP wiring - the same wiring used in 10BASE-T Ethernet. Start with as few as 8 ports and grow the network as needed by simply stacking additional units using expansion cables provided. Easy setup saves time and minimizes potential for configuration error. Compact design enables desktop or rack mounting installation. In the Uplink mode, signals are crossed so that the FE500 series can be connected to a 100BASE-TX switch or router using straight-through cables.
