As requirements grow, new hubs can be added to create a five-unit stack supporting up to 80 nodes, delivering a scalable solution that simplifies network expansion while protecting original investments. A variety of management options are also available, ranging from local hub management to powerful, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based Advanced Analyzer solutions featuring full RMON and RMON2 support. Management can be added to the network at any time and upgraded to meet the needs of the evolving environment, eliminating the need for a large up-front investment.

The Model 2715B is physically similar to the Model 2705B, offering 16 shielded RJ-45 modular receptacles for supporting host connections over both shielded and unshielded twisted pair cabling. Front-panel Ring-In/Ring-Out ports, featuring both shielded twisted pair (Model 2715B) and fiber optic (Model 2715B-F) cabling options, support connections to other Bay Networks hubs or compatible non-Bay Networks devices.

The Model 2715B and Model 2715B-F also include a fully integrated SNMP agent, enabling the hubs to be managed by Bay Networks Optivity network management systems, including Optivity Workgroup , Optivity Campus , and Optivity Enterprise . The applications deliver extensive, real-time physical- and media access control (MAC)-layer data for monitoring and controlling network connections from a central network management station.
