Trust Curve 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub
Advantages: No Software, easy install, looks nice
Disadvantages: needs its own plug source, need to pick itup to plug in USB devices. no on/off switch on the device.
I needed a USB hub for the top of my desk so I could plug all of my portable devices in without the sorry of snapping the front USB with my leg. A hub also meant that I didn't need to constantly get behind the desk to plug something, after extensive searching to find something that wasn't just a plain white box I came across the Trust Curve.
This product looked good from the pictures on amazon so I decided to purchase it, for a price of £11 there are cheaper ones out there but I still feel that is a satisfactory price. This took 4 days to get delivered to my house which was a lot longer than other products I've ordered on amazon but I'm just happy it arrived. When it arrived it was in a simple card board box and the hub itself was wrapped in bubble wrap, this wasn't the greatest packaging and I'm sure if it had been dropped during transaction it could have taken some damage. I took it out the box to find that it had a decent sized cable around 1.5 meters but that is a guess, in the box was just the hub as this requires no software for it to work which is a real bonus.
This uses a standard USB 2.0 port on the computer and when I first plugged it in the computer took a few seconds before it recognised to device. It does require its own plug socket which isn't a great thing but on the plus side it's not sapping any extra voltage from the computer. You have 3 USB 2.0 on the front and one on the back; you also have one USB 2.0 on the back and a USB 1.1 port on there as well.
It was a plug and play piece of equipment which I really liked but using its own plug socket I would of liked an on off switch on the device too, instead I have to either un plug it or switch the plug off because I do like to save electricity where possible. The hub itself looks pretty stylish it's called the curve because of the nature of its design; it has a curved top with a black glossy finish. On the middle of the top you will find the trust logo, the USB's are tucked away at the front and are quite low down meaning I sometimes have to pick this device up to plug other devices into it.
Overall I was quite happy with this product it does what its intended for with no fancy features, there are a few bad points about it which let it down but it has served me well over the past 12 months or so. For anyone looking for a stylish no hassle hub then this is the perfect little device and it's pretty cheap now as I noticed it had dropped to £8 on amazon.
Summary: This little Hub gives you 4 extra USB ports on your computer without the hassle of climbing behing i
