Netgear FS108 ... have been using this switch now for about a year for my home setup. This switch is ideal if you have limited ports available or network connections as you can simply plug one network connection into it and it will "switch" this to 7 others. Meaning that from one wall connection you can run up to 7 pieces of equipment. Although this is a 8 port switch you will require one port for your main network connection and therefore this is not a useable port. The switch itsself is nice and small and therefore will not take up a great amount of space. It can run speeds up to 100Mbps and as low as 10Mbps. Netgear GS105 ... is the smallest (in terms of port numbers) Gigabit switch that Netgear make. The first thing that you notice about it when you open the box is that it has an extremely high build quality and has a good weight to it. This sort of thing is always reassuring. The metal box not only means it is stronger but will also help to get rid of the heat faster. This switch does run quite hot, but never overheats so I m not so worried about danger rather that it might be using a fair bit of electricity! It has 5 ports so for most people that means you will be able to have a Gigabit network between 4 computers since you will need to use one of the ports for uplinking to your route...
