Accton Cheetahswitch Workgroup 3016A ... switches work with all existing Ethernet and Fast Ethernet hubs, switches, bridges, routers and cabling, thereby protecting your network investment. The aggregate bandwidth of these CheetahSwitches can reach up to 800 Mbps with the 8-port model or 1.6 Gbps with the 16-port model. And each port can be operated in either half or full-duplex mode using auto-negotiation. When a packet is transmitted to another node in the same segment, the switch confines the traffic to that segment. If a packet is sent to a node in another segment, it forwards the packet only to the destination segment, thus isolating traffic from the other segments. This greatly increases network throughput and helps balance network loading.

The CheetahSwitch Workgroup-3016A also provides broadcast storm control that prevents runaway broadcast surges from disrupting the network. It even supports link aggregation (trunking) for handling heavy point-to-point traffic. This switch also uses store-and-forward switching to minimize packet loss and ensure error-free transmission. This technique provides a very clean data environment for trouble-free switching and speed conversion.
