Advantages: 7 Ports, Powered, 2 concealed ports, Looks nice

Disadvantages: Not that long a USB and Power cable

Hi today I will be reviewing an Advent USB 2.0 7 Port Hub.
You can get this for £10 off eBay UK.
This Hub has 7 ports:
1 on one side
4 on the other side
2 On the top concealed by a silver flap.

In the box you get:
The 7 port USB Hub
Mini USB - USB cable
Power cable
Instructions

As you can see by the picture it is a tubular design and it lights up blue when power is inputted.

I found that I didn't need to follow the instructions as it was straight forward involving plugging the Mini-USB cable into the device and the other end to my laptop, plugging the power cable into the device and the other end into the mains and finally plugging all my devices into the machine. There isn't a disc you need to install or anything like that.

All of the 7 ports are USB 2 and powered ports if you are going to stick heavy usage devices on the Hub I suggest using the supplied mains cable.

I use this mainly for my memory sticks as they use up a lot of my laptop USB slots so having this makes room for my external hard drive which cannot be placed on an external Hub.

The only complaint I have with this device is that the mini USB - USB cable is quite short so you have to have the device quite near your computer or laptop. I found this out when moving my laptop the mini USB connector nearly snapped and bent 90 degrees luckily it still worked and I just bent it back into shape.

If you use Windows Ready boost with any of your memory sticks then this isn't for you it isn't fast enough to have memory sticks plugged in to it. I have to put my memory stick into my laptop for it to be able to use Ready boost.

Apart from these problems this is a great USB Hub and to solve the small cable you can just plug in a different cable.

Thanks for reading

Summary: Good device that does its job and looks good!
