Brocade Silkworm 2040 ... for entry-level Storage Area Networks (SANs). SilkWorm 2000 switches easily scale from a Fiber Channel Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) configuration to an entry-level switch fabric, and from an entry-level switch fabric to a full fabric switched SAN.

The SilkWorm 2040 delivers market-leading price performance for entry-level (single- and dual-switch) fabric configurations. It provides fabric services, such as Simple Name Server. Through a single switch-to-switch connection, users can deploy SilkWorm 2040 in a dual-switch configuration. And, with a software key, users can easily upgrade the SilkWorm 2040 to a full fabric switch without changing the hardware or software.
