High speed USB 2.0 hub (D-Link DUB-H7)
Name: mwaddington
Advantages: Powers down ports when not in use, backwards compatible with USB 1.1 Disadvantages: Case build quality is very average The DUB-H7 allows you to plug in 7 USB 2.0 devices at once, great for a laptop or PC with limited built-in ports. The unit comes with its own narrow style power supply, which doesn’t interfere with other plugs in adjacent sockets, and USB 6ft A-B lead to connect the hub to the computer. It works under all of the following Microsoft operating systems, Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98 second edition (also Mac 10.1 and above). There are no installation disks to deal with, just plug in and the device is recognised automatically. LED lights indicate whether or not the ports have power and when the computer powers down the hub suspends power to the ports – useful if you want to save power and prolong the life of attached devices such as external disk drives. The case displays the official USB 2.0 logo, which means the hub will have been through some rigorous compatibility testing – ensuring that other USB devices work together successfully. I would describe the look and feel of the case as functional rather than stylish and is a bit plastic and lightweight. Summary: An average looking, functional, high speed hub |
