Advantages: Cheap, Perectly functional

Disadvantages: Lack of features

All too often in these days of heavy internet useage are things related to networking bumped-up in price due to their 'distributed-team' and 'data-flow facilitating' properties. so it's nice for a changed to see a good quality switch come in at a low price (Sub £150).

Sure it's got a low feature-set but to be honest all you want in a good low-cost switch is the ability to segment your network at speeds up to 100MB and let it go at that. Extra features are nice but not necessary. You'll find no active monitoring here, just plaing old good quality, reliable switching.

If you're looking toe xtend your network a little and want that added bit of secuirty I'd recommend this unit hands down. Oh, it's also a pretty damned good hub to boot.

Interesting , but how relaible is it ?
Had bad experiences a years ago with early switches which were not 100% reliable such as HP and some 3coms we now use Cisco which are incromprehensibly reliable.
would be interested in amount of uptime , do you ever have to reset it etc .
As you say not all facilities are needed but Vlan and Vlan trunking are interesting
