      Smashing piece of hardware

Netgear have a good reputation in my opinion at producing good quality networking kit at reasonable prices. Netgear's reputation was one of the reasons I purchased this Ethernet Switch and I have not been disappointed. I have been using one of these at work for the past 6 months and have been very impressed with the performance it get from this switch.

      ~Specification~
This is a 16 Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch. An unmanaged switch is plug and play, which makes it nice and easy to install for people who want something that works with the hassle of configuring a vast array of different networking options. I would recommned that this sort of switch is best suited to small businesses or large home networks.

Data Transfer Rates for this particular switch is 1 Gigabytes per second. I have found that this switch has plently of capacity for transferring large files, as well as running a printer off the same switch as 8 PC's.

The feature I like most about this switch is the fact you are able to run devices which require different network speeds, these speeds are 10, 100 and 1,000Mbps. The switch is designed to detect the network speed which is required by the device that you plug into this, which is great when using an unmanaged switch.

      ~Usage~
When it arrived and I unboxed it, it was easy to set up. All I was required to do was plug it in really and then connect up the various bits of hardware to the switch and I was good to go. It really was that easy!

      ~Summary~
This is a great piece of kit if you have a small network either at home or more likely in the office. I have found with some switches I have used in the past that when networking a printer through the switch is can hamper the performance of the other devices that are connected to it, such as PC's or laptops. I found that the performance was not affected when using this switch.

This product currently is retailing at around the £100 mark and you are getting plently for your money. I have found it to be a good, reliable piece of a equipment. It does everything I want it to do - 5 out of 5!
