With its 1.6 Gbps of internal bandwidth, the TigerSwitch 100M is powerful enough to serve as a high-speed departmental collapsed backbone, or backbone-in-a-box, supporting multiple Fast Ethernet switches and servers. SMC's TigerSwitch 100M offers the same functionality as the modular unit, but is available only with eight fixed 100BASE-TX ports.
