In addition to RADIUS, 802.1x, SSH and SSL for security, the switch offers complete Layer2/3/4 switching with traffic prioritization, including DSCP-based CoS and TCP/UDP Port-based CoS and, as well as port and protocol-based VLANs. For more powerful management applications, this TigerSwitch also offers rate limiting, Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) - all configurable through an intuitively designed Command Line Interface (CLI). Built for robust workgroup and backbone switching today, the SMC8648T also has the flexibility to allow for upgrades to even more features that will be released in the future, including SNMPv3, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s) that allows single spanning tree within VLANs, and Access Control List (ACL).
