Philips HR2304
by SigridHes Me and my friends and family all love ice cream, and I do believe that Ben & Jerry should thank us deeply for contributing to their success over the years! With this ice cream maker from Philips, we have however begun making our own ice cream, and I have to say it`s both cheaper, more fun and best of all, rather delicious! I was ... given this machine for my birthday, and for the last couple of months, I have tried about 20 different flavors, some of my favorites including vanilla, chocolate, mint, strawberry and peach! I think you can get this machine for a price of about 40.99, and I find that to be quite affordable, because this is a solid and easy to use product, very sturdy and seems of very good quality. There`s an inner cooling disk inside of the machine which you have to freeze eighteen hours before making the ice cream, and the making of the ice cream itself takes a little over a half hour, in other words very fast! I haven`t had any problems so far, and a big plus for me is also that the maker is easy to wash, preferably by hand. You can make a big variation of ice cream in this maker, but also sorbets if you prefer that! To sum up, I think this is a very good ice cream maker, affordable and easy to use! Philips HR2304
by davidee This ice cream maker was one of the better gifts I got a few Christmases back and I have since had tremendous fun with it. It makes excellent ice cream - as good as Ben and Jerrys or Hagen Dazs I'd say. It comes in a very pretty box and is itself a very pretty looking product. It's design is rather compact, taking up very ... little space on your kitchen counter. Slightly less than most rice makers. One of the standout joys that the ice cream maker possesses is it's transparent lid - allowing you to hypnotically stare at the whirling cream at every stage of its icy journey. It is important to consider whether this product is really good value for money - in relation to the cost of the ingredients and the amount of labour involved. It may not be worth the forty-five quid or so if the only reason for you to purchase this is to make cheap ice cream and not for the fun of the process. A better alternative would be to save your time and buy what are ridiculously cheap own brand basics/ economy/ smart price ice creams. Furthermore - the price of a tub of Ben and Jerrys or Hagen Dazs is only a pound or more than the cost of ingredients for this, so if you want guaranteed success in consistency and quality, just keep buying those tubs, tubby. The cooling disc that this product comes with, which is essential in the freezing of the ice cream - requires that it is left in your freezer for around a day before you use it. It is therefore always necessary to plan ahead or have it in your freezer always, consuming space and energy. Also your freezer needs to be on one of the higher settings for the disc to properly freeze. We had to change our setting specifically for this ice cream maker. All things considered, a terrifically fun product. A great activity to do with the kids or even by yourself and I recommend it wholeheartedly for that purpose. Don't think that you'll be saving a tremendous amount on your ice cream bill though. Read the complete review |

Philips HR2304
by weebill As I have mentioned in previous reviews, I am big on cooking, baking and everything else food orientated and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and a lot of money on gadgets to use in the kitchen. One purchase I made for the kitchen that I love is the Philips HR2304 ice cream maker, Ok this doesn't produce Ben and Jerry ... quality ice cream but it does produce a superior ice cream to the cheaper brands you can buy in store and you can use your own imagination for flavours. I paid just under £50 for this machine and it is money well spent in my opinion, it comes with a very easy to read and understand instruction manual, the manual tells you that before using you have to freeze the inner cooling disc for around 18 hours before using, you then add the ingredients to the bowl and the machine mixes them into fresh ice cream which takes about half an hour. The machine is quite quiet during the making of the ice cream but it makes just enough noise for my grand kids to hear it and get excited about the ice cream being made, I have made many different flavours of ice cream and have tried things like adding biscuit pieces, raisins and the likes to spice it up. The ice cream is of high quality and I have to say that I prefer my home made chocolate ice cream to any other chocolate ice cream I have tried. The machine can be used to make frozen yogurts and sorbets too which is great for the summer but it is first and foremost an ice cream maker and a very good one too. Read the complete review |
