“ Brand: Cuisinart / Speeds: Multiple Speed / Max Bowl Capacity: 1.5 Quart / Bowl Amount: Single „
My previous ice cream maker broke so I bought this in a hurry one day as there was little choice in my price bracket. It has been a great success and less bulky than the one it replaced. It is easy to wash and maintain, no nasty hidden grooves that are difficult to clean and that is important when working with cream and fruits. The speeds are variable and motor seems strong. The paddle looks the weakest point ( plastic looks breakable) but it has worked well for a year now and it is well used. It is easy to use and my teenage girls have used it without needing to resort to the instruction book.
I am happy with it but it is a small machine so does not make vast amounts. One asset from being small is that the bowl does not take up space in the freezer, an important issue.
We recently found ourselves in a rather peculiar situation where we were in dire need of an ice-cream maker. Having little time to shop around, we decided finally on the Cuisinart ICE-20, on the basis that this handy gadget could easily provide a delicious batch of calorific ice-cream in a mere 25 minutes. We did find however, various faults - common in most budget appliances. My mum for example, particularly hates the fact that the ice-cream maker is so bulky, that it eats up a lot of surface space and does not co-ordinate with the rest of her perfectly arranged and sized utensils (measures up at around 8.5" x 8.5" x 11.2"). Despite its size however, it weighs only 9lb and is easily stored away with its handy retractable cord. Another catch is the annoying process of having to freeze its canister before uses, but after looking into other budget models, I found this to be the norm. The appliance is relatively to clean-out, but quite irritating and noisy when in use. Other features include a large hole in which the ingredients can be added to the container, and we found the auto shut-off feature particularly useful, which saved my parents from worrying about the more forgetful members of my family leaving it on when they're out and burning down the house when the motor overheats. A product manual included also provides delicious recipe ideas for ice cream, frozen yoghurt, sorbets, sherbets and frozen drinks, and should the unlikely situation arise of having some hot weather, me and my family find nothing more refreshing than a lovely batch of sorbet. There's also nothing quite like the taste of home-made ice-cream, the texture is much softer and creamier in comparison with shop-bought ice-cream. We found that custard-based options produced the best-tasting ice-cream, i.e. eggs and heavy cream. So regardless of its faults, the ICE-20 does precisely what it promises and is a sturdy, reliable, wonderful and not to mention - cheap, ice cream maker, and I would, without doubt, certainly recommend.
