 ... typical of all ice cream makers in this price range (under £200) so it is no individual fault of this specific product. Washing the lid and spatula was very simple and only took two minutes. I was pleased to note that there are very few components to deal with and that this basically comprises of just a lid, removable rotating spatula (churner) and the freezing bowl. To make my first batch of ice cream I followed one of the recipes included in the instruction booklet, Mint Choc Chip. I found it a little time ...more

Premium Review Kenwood IM200: DIY Ice Cream (1755 words)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why an Ice Cream Maker? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well I'm with a website where you earn points and these points can be exchanged for free gifts. So after not much deliberation I decided to get an ice cream maker. I chose this particular model as it was the one that I could afford with my points! The advantages of having an ice cream maker are pretty clear when you look at the price of my favourite Ben and Jerry's Ice creams. Another main advantage is that I know exactly what is going into my ice cream. There are only natural fruits and none of the nasty E numbers that we all dread to see on the ingredients lists of our ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review A Very Good Deal for Ice Cream Lovers (616 words)
My Dave does like his premium ice cream but it can be very expensive to buy at around £5 for a 500ml tub. Even when it is on offer at half price, it is still very expensive. I decided that we should use some of our Amazon dooyoo vouchers to purchase an ice cream maker so we could have a go at making our own flavours while cutting back a little bit on the cost. We had a look at a variety of ice cream makers and this one seemed to be the best value for money. It was not the cheapest available but it was the cheapest that appeared to offer an acceptable standard of quality. The RRP for this product is £27.99 and we bought it on offer at ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review Kenwood IM200: Ice on my path and in my freezer! (474 words)
I really enjoy sorbet and frozen yoghurts but find many UK shops stop selling them in the winter. The few you can find are packed with chemicals. I therefore decided to try my hand at making my own. I read reviews, searched the net, and found a smallish machine for £18 on Amazon, free delivery too, so I placed the order. I chose a smallish machine as you need to keep the bowl in the freezer unless you buy one of the £200 plus machines! The machine arrived a week later. It was well packed in a medium size box. Easy to unpack, fairly heavy but not too much so. You get a base unit, which need to be frozen for 24 hours before use, and then preferably ...  Read the complete review
Having inadvertently brought a fruit-o-phobe into the world, I am always on the look out for easy ways to up the fruit intake. I stumbled across ice-cream makers on a shopping trip. The price seemed too good to be true, so when we got home I set about some internet research and found that these things can be had for about £20. In fact, Currys had this model for £17.99, so I hopped over to the local Currys and picked one up. HOW IT WORKS The unit is very simple. It consists of a motorised unit that turns a paddle in a frozen bowl. You start the paddle running and pour the ice-cream mixture in and that's about it. When the paddle stops turning, the icecream ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review Kenwood IM200: Great, easy to use, ice-cream maker (259 words)
I was lucky enough to receive this as a birthday present. I'd never used an ice-cream maker before so was worried it would be complicated. However this machine is easy to use, there aren't too many parts - just a bowl (which you need to freeze for 24hrs beforehand) and then a paddle and lid which incorporates a funnel. The machine comes with instructions and a few simple recipes. I made an orange sorbet and it was very easy to do, and made a really delicious treat. The ice-cream / sorbet is soft scoop but you can easily transfer to a tub to freeze for longer to get a harder ice- cream. There are a couple of things to be aware of - you ...  Read the complete review
