I brought this as a present for my husband who absolutely adores ice cream but have ended up using it mostly myself! I was interested that so many people said their homemade ice cream is both tastier and healthier than shop brought so decided to try it out for myself.

The ice cream maker comes in a box with removable lid and bowl, an instruction guide and plug. The lid has a funnel on it and there is also a paddle for turning the mixture. It holds up to 1 litre of ice cream, so plenty left over to freeze and can also be used to make yoghurt and sorbet although I have yet to try this. The appliance is not very big and fits nicely in the cupboard.

It is very simple to use and the instructions are easy to follow, however if you don't follow the instructions exactly then things will go wrong. You have to freeze the bowl for 24 hours before use so that it freezes the ice cream. You can then simply put in your ingredients, place the lid on top and press the start button. I enjoy watching the ice cream being churned around and this also ensures that all the lumps are removed. After about half an hour the ice cream is ready and you can either eat it straight away (which I usually do) or freeze it for later. I also love the fact that you can put absolutely anything in that you want. The first ice cream I made was a basic strawberry one. I used some strawberries, double cream, yoghurt and sugar and it turned out perfectly. I also recently brought the ben and jerrys homemade ice cream recipe book and have found every recipe comes out great.

It is very quick and easy to clean. You just take the bowl give it a quick wipe and rinse then replace it. There is no maintenance required and overall it is a cheap, simple ice cream maker that makes extremely tasty homemade ice cream!
