Cheap to buy, and works, creating decent icecream.

Advantages: Inexpensive, works, simple method, easy to use
Disadvantages: tiny bit messy, a bit noisy.
It is a freeze bowl icecream maker, so the bowl has to be frozen for about 24 hours before you make your icecream, and the coldness of the bowl makes the icecream. There is another type, which freezes it with its own freezing unit, but these ones are alot more expensive.
Buying an icecream maker was prompted by buying the Ben and Jerry's recipe book.
I started to have a look online, and found this one was consistantly one of the cheapest out of all of them, and with a reliable name behind it.
After buying it i set to work. I panicked at first as my icecream didnt seem to set, but it did start to stiffen up. Its my first icecream maker, so i wasnt sure how it ranked compared to others. The volume of icecream the unit can make seemed like the perfect amount, enough to fill a medium icecream tub up.
However it is quite noisy, but its not really an issue when its in the kitchen, it was a bit messy to clean out, and the bowl isnt meant to be cleaned until its re warmed to room temperature on its own, as any water would freeze to the bowl, but this took ages!
The quality of the icecream has come out really good each time, and for the price, i cannot complain at all, really pleased with it all in all.
I would recommend that if its your first icecream maker, this Kenwood is a good option, simple to use, on off switch, and a simple freeze bowl. For in the region of £20-£30 on the high street, its inexpensive, and gives you the chance to experiment with new flavours.
Update: 1st July 2011- Another thing i would like to mention is that it is quite bulky when storing in the freezer. It's a bit of an arkward shape and size, and takes up alot of room. One suggestion i would make is if you are short on space with it, store in in the cupboard and when youre planning to make icecream, just pop it in the freezer a day before, as it only needs 24 hours to get to the correct temperature for usage. Hope this has improved it!
Summary: Overall it is a good buy, especially for people new to icecream making.
