Make your own low fat ice-cream and frozen yoghurt
Member Name: Terr72
Advantages: quick and cheap
Disadvantages: bowl takes up space in freezer
I was given one of these a few years ago for Christmas and it is one of the best kitchen gadgets I own.
It is very easy to use and clean. It can produce lovely frozen desserts in as little as 20 minutes. A little word of warning - make sure you have the device switched on and the motor running before you add the ingredients. Otherwise, you end up with the paddle not being able to go round and a very hard frozen dessert in the bowl.
Not only can you use it to make ice cream but it will also make frozen yoghurt. This I do quite often as I need to follow a low fat diet. My favourite recipe is to add a couple of pots of flavoured very low fat yoghurt to the machine along with a tube of very low fat natural fromage frais - Yummy and no need to feel guilty for eating the whole lot on your own.
The downside to this product is that you need to freeze the bowl for at least 24 hours before you can make anything. This means that if you have a small freeze valuable room is taken up. I'm lucky in that I have a large enough freezer to keep the bowl in it at all times, so can make a dessert at any time.
Summary: Great gadget if you don't have the money to spend
