Advantages: lovely ice cream, Cheap to make ice cream, fun!
Disadvantages: takes ages to freeze bowl, makes u want to eat ice cream all day
I recentely bought this ice cream maker to solve my crisis. The problem was it was summer and the only thing i could eat close enough to an ice cream on my diet was Muller Light yoghurts. That's when an idea popped into my head as i flicked through the Argos catalogue - What if i was to freeze these delicious little yoghurts? Rushing down to my local shop I grabbed some ingredients and returned home. What a suprise my boyfriend got when he opened up an ice cream maker for his birthday :)
It was a bit of a pain to carry home, not heavy at all but in a big square box that was banging into my legs. My boyfriend was really delighted with his present and what a suprise.. all the right ingredients were in the fridge hehe! It was then we had a shock horror moment, the cooling bowl had to be removed and frozen for at least 18 hours prior to using!! ARGH.
It was amazing when we finally got the bowl out of the freezer and into the magic machine. Everything just slid apart really easily and although there was instructions we could see how it all fitted together. As we poured the strawberry muller yoghurts through the top it was crazy.. just like watching the swirls of ice cream on the Carte Dor advert! In about 20 minutes the ice cream looked really thick, i could have honestly been fooled into thinking it was the luxury stuff if not wiser. The saddest thing was we realised we had been watching it the whole time.
When we finally got to eat the first lot we was feeling a bit sick but it was just so nice i had to eat all of it! There was no bits of ice or a grainy texture. The ice cream was smooth and really tasty to eat. After that my boyfriend made one from cream and pineapple to freeze for later. Damnit no cream on my diet!
You can put pretty much anything in this ice cream maker and the instructions are very easy to follow. I stick to the basic ingredients of yoghurts or cream with fruit but for those who are
more adventurous there's a few yummy recipies free for you to try out. The ice cream maker makes approximately 0.8 litres of ice cream each time and the bowl should be fully frozen before each use. I once was a bit too impatient and ended up with frozen yoghurt stuck to the cooling bowl.
The product is only made of a few parts and extremely sturdy. I read another op on this product about dropping the cooling bowl and i can agree it is very strong! Mine just bounced across the floor completely undamaged.
I'd really recommend this for anyone. Although it seems a bit expensive i found this great vaule for money. You can entertain the kids and let them make ice creams they want or save yourself money on the expensive luxury ones around. I haven't bought any ice cream since my boyfriend got this and i dont plan to! LOVELY LOVELY go buy now!!
