==Osram Lumilux L16/827 Strip Light==
having this year moved into a new house there now seems to be something that is either broken or on the verge of breaking and needing replacing so we have never been so poor as we are right now and a major expensive seems to be light bulbs and their fittings!
The kitchen of our new house is by no means new and will eventually need ripping out and replacing. However for now it is not too bad to live with and we opted to rip out the aubergine bathroom suite before touching the kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with under cupboard strip lights which I thought a really nice touch and in the evening it does give the kitchen a really nice vibe and in the dimmer downward light it doesn't look nearly as dated as it does in the daytime.
The only downside with these light fittings means that the strip light bulbs have seemed to go one at a time since the beginning of the year and I have had to replace 3 out of the 6 different strip lights that are under the cupboards. It seems that each of the bulbs is a different length and some of them are even a completely different fitting! I am not sure whether the last owners of the house got the lights fitted at different times but it seems strange that the fittings are all quite different.
However the first bulb I had to replace was one of the longer strip lights and once I had worked out what bulb reference number I needed and did a search online to find somewhere who stocked this rather old type of bulb I was able to get the right one for a mere £5.99 pence which I was quite relieved about as I would have thought that they would be a little more expensive for the size and type of the bulb.
It came relatively quickly and I was able to fit it myself without any problems at all. The bulb is a chunky strip light which has a 16 watt output and surprisingly the energy rating of the bulb is an A rating so it is therefore very energy efficient which I wasn't expecting from this sort of bulb. The bulb also offers a massive 12000 hours of use before it will need replacing or actually stop working.
The light is a warm white colour which gives off a nice glow in the kitchen and I prefer the warmth of this bulb that the coolness of other bulbs that I have used in the past. This warmth is not overly orange though and although there is a slight yellowing of the light it is not overly so.
Although this strip light bulb is really very energy efficient the fact that the light comes on pretty bright as soon as the light fitting is switched on is a good thing. Ti doesn't need any time to heat up and give out a stronger light although like most strip lighting it does flicker when first turned on but just for a second or so.
Overall I have to say that I am super pleased with my purchase of this strip light bulb. It was cheaper than I thought it would be and the fact that I now know how energy efficient the bulb is I would much rather use my under cupboard strip lights than the new halogen bulbs we have just put in on the kitchen ceiling as I know these use up a ton of energy. Hopefully this bulb will last for as long as the manufacturers state that they do but as they are not overly expensive even if I were to break one it wouldn't be the end of the world to replace it.
I think it has got to be a massive top score of 5 out of 5 stars and a super high recommendation! I love a good energy saving product and this quite clearly is one of those!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
