Advantages: Cheaper than Photoshop with most of the same functions.

Disadvantages: Some of the more specialised functions are missing

I use this product pretty much everyday - I'm a website designer so I need a graphics package that I can trust to get the job done.

The traditional piece of software for this job would be Photoshop, but I find that just too expensive. Photoshop Elements seems to have around 80% of the functionality of Photoshop at a vastly reduced price.

The most useful function for me is the "Save for Web" option where you can view the original quality image in one pane while you gradually reduce the quality (and therefore file-size) in the other pane.

This allows you to balance file size and image quality most effectively and saves guessing! It also allows you to switch between the image as a .gif and as a .jpg so that you can see the difference in quality and file size there too.
