Advantages: Takes up little RAM, Loads quickly, Ideal for quick editing

Disadvantages: Very very limited, Lacks some basic manipulation features

This is definitely not the most state-of-the-art image manipulation programs that one can come across. I consider it as a decent freebie suitable to carry out very basic image editing in absence of more powerful image/photo manipulation software. Quite frankly, I don’t think it was intended to compete with the higher standard programs. The only advantage in Imaging for Windows is that it takes a split second to load and it takes up very little RAM, unlike larger programs. This can be an advantage if the program is used to quickly edit a photo before sending it by e-mail.

That's true, but it isn't really meant to be. It is designed for document scanning and storage, a requirement of which is that the image should be a true copy of the original paper.
A more powerful version of Imaging for Windows is available from www.alliancegroup.co.uk
