Cafe World - Facebook Application
Cafe World (Facebook Application):
Cafe world is an application on Facebook the popular social networking site. To play Cafe World on Facebook you must first register a Facebook account which is a very simple process that only takes a couple of minutes and requires very little information. Once you have a Facebook account you can simply search for Cafe World uses the Facebook search function, (this will also bring up results for loads of Cafe World related Facebook groups that you may wish to join to get more neighbours and friends who play Cafe World). It is perhaps more likely that you will at some point get a "neighbour request" from a friend and end up playing Cafe World that way.
Cafe World is a simulation style game that runs using Flash meaning you will have to have the latest version installed in your computer. Flash is free and if it is not installed or up to date on your PC you will be prompted to download it via the link provided. I have been using Flash for years and I have never had any problems relating to it's use or it's being installed on my PC.
As you may guess from the name, Cafe World allows you to run your own Cafe that you get to decorate, expand and of course you get to cook for your customers. You start off with a limited amount of recipes and you get more as you level up. To level up you need 'cafe points' which you earn by helping friends, cooking, cleaning etc; almost everything you do in Cafe World earns you points. To decorate, expand or buy extra stoves/counters for your cafe you need to earn money from the customers who patronise your Cafe, (this happens automatically).
This game is strangely addictive even though the game play is insanely simple and repetitive. There are a couple of points that make playing irresistible not least the fact that your food spoils if you do not serve it quickly enough. Some dishes take only minutes to cook but others take hours and some up to two days. Dishes burn and spoil quite quickly once they are cooked and so you find yourself clock watching for when you next dish is ready. This feature makes you want to keep logging in and ensures that you play regularly and generally adds to the bizarre addictiveness of the game.
You will need neighbours in Cafe World so you can visit them to earn extra cash and get points to level up but as I have previously mentioned there are plenty of groups to join to get more friends who play Cafe World and to get more neighbours and you can invite your existing friends to play. You also get to send your friends gifts like food or decor so the more friends you have that play the more gifts you will get.
Like so many Facebook applications there is the option to buy "cash" with real money to buy exclusive items for your cafe or to allow you to expand more quickly. I have never bought any for Cafe World but I have for other applications and although it seems a pain when you can't have something that you want without shelling out hard cash but it's how the makers, (Zynga), make the money to make the game.
A little problem is the reliability of the game, it is often impossible to load the game and that sometimes results in spoiled food and of course loss of revenue when your cafe runs out of food for the customers and it is highly frustrating to say the least.
I really enjoy playing Cafe and play most days and for people with nothing better to do I would whole heartedly recommend it but for anyone with a life I would advise them to steer clear or else risk wasting too much precious time on this addictive little game.
