Cafe World - Facebook Application
Advantages: Nice but silly way to waste a few minutes!
Disadvantages: Can stick and jump.
Facebook is a great site for socialising but also for playing games and you can do this through the many applications on the site. The best way to describe them is like mini sites within Facebook which have games and ways of interacting with your friends as well as wasting copious amounts of your time!
Café World is one of these applications. Its aim is that you are the chef and you must keep cooking and serving up meals for your waiters to serve to the customers that come into your café.
Each dish has a set cooking time, it says this in the cookery book that you chose which recipe to cook from. You are charged for the ingredients which are also stated in the cookery book along with how many servings you will create. You clock on your cooker and the recipe book comes up, you then click on your chosen dish and have to click on the cooker a further three times for all of the cooking processes to take place. Such as chopping vegetables or prepping meat.
You then have to leave it for the cooking time to elapse before you can serve it.
Some of the dishes you can cook are;
Stuffed turkey- costs you $700, serves 1200 and takes 22 hours to cook.
Spaghetti and meatballs - costs you $450, serves 275 and takes 8 hours to cook.
Tikka Masala Kabobs - costs you $215, serves 90 and takes 1 hour to cook.
Chicken Pot Pie - costs you $3500, serves 1850 and takes 2 days to cook.
Jammin' Jelly Doughnuts - costs you $40, serves 120 and takes 20 minutes to cook.
Strawberry Cheesecake - costs you $550, serves 1650 and takes 12 hours to cook.
Once the cooking time has elapsed they look as if they are sparkling on the stoves which means that they are reasy to serve. To serve them you just click on each one and your little character will go around and put them on a serving table for your waiters to serve.
You do not have to be exact with when you log on to serve the dishes but they do go off if they are not served up within a time limit and each one has a different limit. The limit is that they can wait to be served for as long as they took to cook. If they take twenty minutes to cook they go off in twenty minutes or if it is something which cooks in two days then it can sit there for another two.
You can change your little Chef to look like you by changing their hair style and colour and their clothes, as well as facial features.
You make Café world dollars which you then use to make more dishes and improve your café, buying more tables, chairs, cookers, serving tables and even changing the décor.
The only trouble I have had with it is that at busier times of the day it can freeze and jump.
This has no real point to it but it is a nice way to interact with your friends. You can send them gifts of dishes to serve or things to make their café look nice.
It is a silly way of taking your mind off of your day.
Summary: Give it a try.
