I bought this on Amazon about a month ago in order to prepare for my driving theory test. This is the latest edition with the most up to date theory questions. I spent about two weeks on this software and can say I successfully passed my exam at the end of last month.
The CD comes in a DVD case, has a single cover slip and one CD. This includes the theory; Hazard perception and also practical test help videos.
This section asks you a series of questions on road safety, driving attitudes, awareness, documents etc...
This section features tons of questions, some are exactly the same as what you would get in the test. A majority of the questions that came up on my real test I had seen before on this software.
You can choose to do a mock test, or a series of questions relating to a certain area. You can also test yourself on road signs or custom build a set of questions.
I found this the most useful and I did about a dozen tests before taking the real exam. My scores varied and were quite random on here, but when it came to the real thing, I scored my all time high of 49/50.
As it is in electronic form, you can get a realistic feel of how the real exam will be and that exam technique is definitely useful.
This section helps you with the hazard perception side of the test where you are shown video clips of potential hazards and you have to click when you see them.
I just did the mock tests on here and passed 90% of the time. I found this quite easy- you just need to click when there is ANY sign of potential danger... in my real exam I had lambs running out onto the road! I got 57/75 in the real thing.
This section has a series of videos helping you with manoeuvres you may be asked in the real exam.
I have not looked at this section in much detail yet, but the videos and angles aren't that great, however the visuals and the instructions of what to do are. If you do forget anything, this will help you remember if your instructor isn't at hand to answer trivial questions.
All three sections have a range of helpful statistics which shows your progression. This is useful but their prediction of if you will pass the test is completely silly and I wouldn't listen to them. When you are confident, just go for it!
I got this for about £6 on Amazon. The older software packages are about the same price, so why not get the most up to date one?
I am extremely happy with the product- I passed, didn't I? However, I only spent two weeks on it, so it didn't really last that long. It was definitely useful as it allowed you to take mock tests and has very similar questions to the real thing. Now I need to find someone to pass it onto... before it goes out of date!
