Epson Stylus S20 ... with other reviewers, I found this a cheap but noisy machine. When it worked it was adequate but not exceptional. I bought quite a few spare genuine Epson cartridges to save time and money. Then the problems! In the middle of a job, it just stopped working. The error message was effectively Failure to recognise ink ! Epson Helpline most UNhelpful. Emails promised a call withing 24 hours - it took several days on each occasion. After the usual call-centre helpline runaround, the experts refused to accept my complaint, saying I must be using non-Epson cartridges or I d damaged the mechanism by interfering with it. Lexmark Color Jetprinter 43 ... like Lexmark because they are the everyday people version of IBM - one of those dinosaurs of the printing world. They evolve with the times and create solid products that can handle the workload that you put on them. So, when I walked into my local Staples, it was a choice of buying another cartridge for my older Lexmark, which still worked fine but was slow and noisy, or blowing money on a new printer. Ever the cheapie, I opted for the Lexmark Z43 as it only cost me $45 ( £30 approx) more than the ink cartridge for my old machine would have done, and I wanted to stay with a Lexmark.
