Advantages: Good printing quality
Disadvantages: Eats the Ink!
Get ready to purchase a multitude of ink cartridges if you buy this Canon printer. I have the Canon BJC-1010 Model of the Canon BJC-1000 series of printers and it absolutely eats up the ink cartridges as if they were gasoline for a 1970's car. The printer itself produce quality print outs for a family budget computer as it will only cost the consumer about $100 dollars. I actually received me in a package deal when I purchased my computer but I saw the model on the sales floor quoted at a price of $109 dollars. This printer uses two different types of cartridges, the BC-02 (black only) and the BC-05 (color). I use my printer occasionally, maybe a couple of times a week but the BC-05 cartridge that came with the printer was empty after about five weeks. One thing I learned afterwards is that if you leave your printer plugged in, each time you turn on your computer the cartridge tests itself resulting in the waste of unnecessary ink. I would recommend only plugging in the printer when it is going to be used otherwise you will waste the cartridge unnecessarily. The most recent cartridge, the BC-02, I had lasted three months before it ran out. Currently, I have another BC-02 cartridge in there which has lasted over two months so far. The basic word of advice here is to be cautious as these cartridges run upwards of $20. There are different modes that can be printed and if use the highest quality mode, you will get a very nice printing. Once again, be aware that this results in extraordinary use of the ink cartridges so be cautious in your use of the higher quality settings with this Canon printer BJC-1010. The Canon BJC-1010 is a good printer for the family to use occasionally but be careful not to overuse it because the ink costs will run you dry as well!
