Advantages: Quiet, Superb photo quality, Fast!!
Disadvantages: None
I bought this Canon photo printer after I ditched the Epson one I had for 7 months. This is an excellent printer. It's so quiet when it's printing. When it's making a photo quality print the noise is barely audible, unlike my previous Epson printer which was very noisy. This Canon printer even has a separate 'quiet' facility to use at night but it hardly seems like it needs it. This printer works with almost no noise at all! It's also very fast, again easily 4-5 times faster than Epson at printing the same things. Photo quality prints are fast tracked through and the quality is superb. Text on plain paper almost flies out the printer. I cannot fault it at all. With separate ink tanks I need only to replace the empty one and not the whole lot. I have used it extensively over the past 3 weeks and cannot find one thing to fault it on. The colour rendition is EXACTLY as shown on my monitor with no variation at all. My Epson printer always seemed to print out a bit darker than was shown on the screen, but this Canon printer is spot on. The set up procedure with this printer is more detailed than an Epson one but once it's done the results for me are flawless. I have had problems in the past with clogged heads and banding in other printers but this one has shown none of these problems. It's a superb printer and one I'm more than happy to recommend. I have not been disappointed in any of its functions and I'm astounded at the photo quality of the prints it produces. The size of the ink drops go down to a whopping 2 picolitre size making the transition from each colour seamless. Prints from this machine are easilyas good at those from a photo processing lab. All in all, a wonderful printer which is worth every penny. It only uses 3 colour inks as well as the black. Other photo quality printers use 5 colour inks and black but due to the very small size of the ink drop delivered onto the pa
per there seems to be no loss of quality from using 2 fewer ink colours. Photos come out perfectly and the colours blend seemlessly. Also, you only need to purchase 3 separate colour inks as opposed to 5 in other printers. A fantastic printer!

- 21/04/04 Good down to earth op. I've reviewed it too and it is indeed an excellent printer. How these inkjets have evolved over the years is almost too good to be true. |
