Advantages: top quality of prints, fast printing, supplied accessories
Disadvantages: not an true photo printer, manual book is "thick"
I beleive You have allready seen tech info about this item. At first, I wanted to get earlier model (i850). That model had enough excellent parameters to "beat" the other competitors as HP 5150, Epson C82... This model, for a change (comparised with i850) has few supplies more, as CD/DVD printing tray, storage box. Even the drivers are better. As I am doing some paperwork almost every day, I wanted to get an printer which will be: fast, economic, reliable, silent. I must mention that my work is more in printing fast drafts, as text&pictures. I have tried to make some photos (print), and I am not much supprised with quality. I expected the printed photos are great, and so it happened. I am very very satisfied with performances that this printer does, as fast printing (arround 3-6 pages in color per minute, and arround 10-12 in black text per minute), and as this printer is really silent. Only when loading paper you could hear a bit of noises. This printer also has a capability to print booklets, and that is great. With optional accessories, it is capable for duplex printing. The driver has an option for ink-drying, so there are no problems as with earlier model. I suggest you to use only original inks, as some of my friends had bad experiences with using cheaper ink. It is not worth trying to play, even the printing head is removable and replacable. When I was collecting the informations about printers at this range, I was focused to: cost of ink & paper printing speed resolution (that is 4800x1200 for photos; 600x600 in black-works) additional accessories supplied (as photo paper tray, CD printing adapter) number of nozzles (primary focus) - this printer is declared to have more nozzles than Epson C84 (you can find it in both brochures) borderless printing Speaking in terms of testings, due to leading magazines here in Croatia, the i865 and Epson C84 have similair ca
pabilities. I have chosen Canon, and I beleive it is better choice. What more to say? This "spartan"-look printer, does well. But, there is one more tip: for this ammount of money spent for any printer, you'll probably be satisfied. Even the Epson C84 is very good printer. But, now, when I print at CD-media, a have no problems with centering or similair stuff. That is an option tha is well done with i865. If you have questions, you can send me a mail. That's all Some Specs: 4800x1200 dpi replaceable printing head 5-ink system (additional photo black ink tank) declared 23 pages mono, 12,4 pages in color (per minute) borderless printing (using photo paper) 2 picolitre ink dropsize noises arround 36dB weight 5.8kg pictbridge direct printing from camera Windows/MAC drivers dimensions 420*311*185mm ...

OK, I admit I was a bit fast in calculating price.
But really, the price comes as 1400 KN, and that is exactly 126 Ł, or 184 EUR.
The i 850 is (by reviews) also an excellent printer, but you can't get it here in Croatia any more, and the last price was a bit over "i865's" price.
True speaking, I wanted to get printer that can print on CD also. Otherways, I would get model i560, that has the "same" specifications, and is a bit cheaper then i865 (exact price in Croatia is for i560 = 96Ł or 138E).

- 02/02/04 a good op :) however, you are completely wrong on the price.
A quick price search (available here on dooyoo) will reveal that this printer is available for ~£150, not £115 as you state.
The Canon i850 (which I own, and have reviewed here on dooyoo) is excellent, and I have seen it new on ebay for around £110.
As far as I am concerned, unless you want the CD/DVD printing capabilities, then the newer model is not worth paying 30-50% more for.
The i850 currently offers better value for money, now that this newer model has forced the price down.
